------------------------------------------
Remember to consider the whole weekend, not just the race.
------------------------------------------
Step 1 - GP takes place & voting opens
Step 2 - Everybody votes according to these rules:

* You can give a driver either three, two or one point. (Or zero, which is default.)

* You can distribute no more than ten points (but less if you want to).

* You need to vote for at least two drivers.

If I feel you are simply voting for the fav driver each time I'll put you on the ignore list for a while. (I won't be voting myself, to make it fairer) Also not arguing over somebody elses votes or again on the ignore list you go. Posts should be along the lines of:

...3 points: the driver/s you think did the best job during the weekend
...2 points: the next best ones
...1 point: the ones after that

Make it clear which Schumacher brother you mean. Don't use the abbreviation Mont, as it could mean either Montoya or Monteiro.

Step 3- Voting will close in about a week

Step 4 - I'll add up the total number of votes. This will produce a 'race result'. Should drivers have the same voting score then I will split them by who has had the most Top Votes. If that fails then in reversed race result order.

Step 5 - The drivers will then be awarded championship points on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system.
---------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------
Rate the race
------------------------------------------
Please rate the race from 0-10, using the following guide.

Quality of race
This should be a reflection of how good the race was, not how much you liked the results. Please don't give it a one or two just because driver X failed to win the championship. Think about how much it had your pulse racing and you guessing at what the end result was going to be. Use the guide below to help, and think carefully. Try to compare it not just to the last few races, but all the grand prix you've ever watched. Votes of 9 and 10 should be quite rare.

10 The best race I've ever seen
9 Contender for the best race of the last few seasons
8 Contender for the best race of the season
7 Brilliant race, I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of the race
6 Better than average, more than a few on the edge the seat moments
5 An average race, nothing spectacular but worth watching
4 Below average, too few exciting moments
3 Well, there was one or two moments of interest
2 That was completely predictable
1 I struggled to watch it all the way through
0 I slept through most of it

Satisfaction with the results
Please also rate the race in terms of how satisfied you are with the results. This one
should be based on if driver X wins the championship or not! Also factors such controversy
over DQ's that sour the event should be considered.

10 All the right results, and done with style
9 All the right results, if not in the best manner
8 Mostly the right results
7 Mostly the right results with a bit of luck
6 Some of drivers/teams I liked did well
5 Neither happy nor sad with the results
4 My likes didn't quite manage to do well
3 My likes did quite badly
2 My likes did quite badly and my dislikes did good
1 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well but I'll give them credit for doing it well
0 All the wrong drivers/teams did very well and the right ones did badly

Note: people who are on the Voting Championship ignore list can still participate in Rate the race.

M Schumacher - 3 (the best pass since Spa 2000, an astonishing pace)
Raikkonen - 3 (amazing qualifying runs, great pace at the start, let down by car)
Alonso - 2 (flawless but not exceptional)
Button - 1 (good pace and qualifying)
Wurz - 1 (did very well in a tough situation)

Quality - 8 (would have been 9 if the leader hadn't retired for a mechanical reason)
Satisfaction - 4 (would have been much higher if Raikkonen didn't have to retire, even if came 2-4)

M Schumacher - 3(quali mistake overturned by exceptional recovery drive, it's a dumb qualifying system anyway, always has been, good lap on saturday, going out earlier, good pass on button, great pace)

Raikkonen - 1 (good qualifying, great pace at the start, let down by car, can't presume a error free race without actually finishing though, blame Mclaren )

Alonso - 1 (did what was required, not that hard to keep a car behind at imola, qualifying made easier by going out last on saturday, not his fault, but then qualifying is comprimised, so we don't know who truely is fastest)

Button - 1 (good pace and qualifying)

Wurz - 1 (did very well in first gp for a while)

Quality - 9 (for Imola, this was good quality, qualifying still a shamble to decide grids, but it was a quality race for the current rules, it would get a 10, but when a 2 second a lap faster car can't get by on a track with a formidable rated driver-MS, the quality of the racing is comprimised, it was stincts and pitstops, with a good pounce by MS on button through the help of backmarkers, big shame about the aero rules, too much dirty air)
Satisfaction - 9

3 points - Kimi Räikkönen (ok, there's one for sympathy - didn't put a foot wrong in the weekend, I can't see why he would have in the latter stages of the race)

2 points - M. Schumacher (mistake in qualies cost him one point, the race was absolutely brilliant, vintage arch nemesis)

2 points - Alonso (it was too easy for him to get 3)

1 point - Button (good quali, soft racing)

1 point - Sato (good racing, poorish quali)

1 point - Villeneuve (getting his act together, especially in race)

Oh yes, the quality - 8 points (simply great)
Satisfaction - 2 (Ok, I don't have anything against Alonso, but this McLaren stuff gets into my nerves)

Well, what do you know? A decent, thrilling race for a change. Full of entertaining moments. The one-finger salute of Massa wqas priceless  So, with no further ado:

3 points to Then men of the race: Fernando Alonso, who did a flawaless weekend, and showed how to use a circuit where there's no overtaking; his driving skills on the last 12 laps were outstanding, just comparable to the one of his persecutor, Michael Schumacher. The german had a great saturday, a flaw on sunday but in the race he shined. A great answer to those who say he can't thrill or drive from behind. Stellar 2nd place.

1 point gang Alex Wurz, for sure, on a solid weekend, bringing the only good new for McLaren for Imola; Jenson Button, very steady weekend; Takuma Sato, one of the few drivers who managed to overtake at the circuit; and... no, I can't do this...
one point to... the canadian of Sauber. You know, Massa's teamate... oh, boy, heavens forgive me... I give one point to Jacques Villeneuve. It's good to see the Swiss team is improving.

Quality: 7, still think the one-tire rule is too dangerous.
Satisfaction: 5

Michael 3, the man of the race despite the qual mistake, terrific pass on Jenson
Kimi 1, great quals, good early pace, car let him down
Alonso 1, great defending at the end, otherwise a ho-hum drive
JV -2 , is this a renaissance - and I am not even a JV fan!
Button -1, good safe drive
Liuzzi - 1 good debut, surpassed a more experienced DC
Narain - 1, consistently better than Monteiro

Quality- 8 (some terrific racing on a really overtaking-unfriendly track)

I can only answer for myself, but as Kimi didn't survive long enough to give an indication of his fuel level I didn't feel able to make a judgement on how good his qualifying or race pace was. It was a bit more than the last 10 laps mate he didn't even make 10 laps.
