The funniest part about "Nita" was that she never ever went into a racing car to race without her Handbag, she would squash it up & put it under the driver's seat never went without it, if I remember rightly her Mechanic made a strap for it so that it wouldn't fly about everywhere One Hellover Lady

Yep absolutely true, that's the first thing she asked for from the Marshalls who went to help her get out of the carI seem to recall seeing a photo in one of the daily papers after Anita had that big roll at Brands in her Anglia of her walking back to the pits handbag in hand.

How good it would be to see her racing in an Anglia or Mini Cooper, or anything else suitable, at Goodwood's Revival meeting.

John Adams still keeps turning up some lovely new photographs from his collection (Racebears.com) of which I thought this was a nice example.........

What a fabulous little car - and what a wonderful restoration project!
The Aurora has just been sold and will be restored conservatively to period 65 specification where possible.
The new owner heard that it ran in at least 2 international races to the correct appendix in 1965 (Silverstone and Goodwood Lavant Cup etc). Does anyone have the results of those races?

Racing Sports Cars has some results for the Aurora BMC but they appear to be mixed up with a later car bearing the same name.

Interesting Bob Anderson drove the Aurora 11.4.66 at The Lavant Cup Goodwood- never knew that.
Terry Clare (Mick's son) has provided the new owner with engine specification etc.

Trevor Taylor finished 16th in the Lavant Cup in the Aurora only completing 15 of the 21 laps.Yes for the Silverstone event. Tell the owner to pm me and I will scan the results sheet. It was fully reported in Autosport and MS race reports. Any Goodwood results would be in the Barker book, or even the Goodwood history which I have not yet checked. The Lavant Cup was on April 17 and there is no mention of the Aurora in the results shown in the Coterie Jim Clark 1965 book in finishers/dnf/dns. They show the Silverstone results in a curtailed form, with an error.

I'm sure Anita has said in the past that she drove it aswell, let's hope she can fill in more detail when they make contact. I've recently written a piece about Alexander / Mick Clare, if anyone can put me in touch with Terry I can send him the article.
Pete
I've sent you a PM.

Thanks for the detail. Having now had the time to look through my results ringbinders, I can also offer a scan of the Lavant Cup results, as I have an interest in that race. I would have checked earlier but that room is in the process of being redecorated so nothing is where it usually is.Trevor Taylor finished 16th in the Lavant Cup in the Aurora only completing 15 of the 21 laps.

My article , mainly concerning Anita's Mini racing days ,can be found in this month's edition of 'Mini Magazine' (oddly enough!) for those who may wish to browse whilst in WH Smith! Hope you like it.

Pete, For those outside the UK, what month is the magazine we need to look for? (it arrives in Oz newsagents about 3 issues behind).

Yes that's the one, thanks.
Stephen, if you get impatient I'll post you a copy , it'll probably take a couple of days!. We'd have loved to have reunited Anita with both the Aurora BMC and her Mini Cooper but sadly it was just too big an ask. Something to aim for next year though at the Mk1 Performance day at Blyton in May. :-)
