Hi people,

I would like to know what rearwing Williams used on the FW07b at the 1980 Zolder GP.
As far as I know it shoud be a sqare one, but if I look at the folowing picture it lookes like a delta shaped one.

Does anybody know the correct answer or has more/better photos?

Thanks, Roland

But most F1 cars ran sans front wings in 1980, Gary... :drunk:

OK,

Thanks for the information.

And Rob Ryder, could you post the "full" pics of those rearwings?
It would be very welcome to see all the car.

Rob,

That middle colour shot is the same one as on The Ultimate Car Page link, methinks - thus, it's Jones, not Reutemann.

The picture in the rain is from Saturday's practice, the rest are from raceday (IIRC) :

It appears to me from the pictures that 'delta'-planform main elements were used both in practise and race, but a deeper chord/more cambered profile high-downforce wing was used in wet practise and a slimmer, low-drag (and less downforce) profile for the dry race. Note that the deeper 'wet' wing also has significantly bigger end-plates.

BTW, I often wonder if Lole's tall roll-hoop would have snapped off in the event of him actually rolling the car - there seemed to be an awful lot of hoop north of the supporting stays...

I just put online the wing with a high resolution photo, that's here : http://www.gurneyfla...MSREARWING.html

It was used on high downforce tracks with the FW07C and FW08 too.

More photos of the wing with the Focus on these cars :

Dear All, chatting with Patrick Head last year, it came out that whilst Williams went to South American with the FW07B car in early 1980, they had some issues with the car (floor and skirts not stiff enough) and put Alan back in the FW07A car and sent some pieces to transform the Reutemann car into an A car...
And only in Zolder they launched the C car...
Does anyone know more about this changes in South America?
regards,
