Top picture Rewind thank you. I'll try and get in touch with Mike to see if he knows who owns the copyright

John Webb is much underrated for sure. Just think what a GIANT he would be in today's racing world?

"The February issue also marks the 10th anniversary of Dale Earnhardt’s passing, US editor Gordon Kirby putting into true perspective the giant legacy of NASCAR’s Man in Black. Meanwhile, Simon Taylor travels to Spain to meet John Webb for lunch. For 30 years the man who ran Brands Hatch was perhaps the most influential, forward-thinking figure in British motor sport. In his own way, Webb was as innovative as the great designers who shaped the races he promoted"

From the " Motor Sport " website

Atrticle on John Webb will be in next month's issue :)

For those interested I saw John in Spain 10 days ago.
Obviously he is much older/frail now, but he was in good spirits and it was nice to see someone from my youth I'd not seen in 20+ years.

Without meaning to sound flippant I had no idea he was still with us, amazing.

Talking of his reign I remember with some affection the remarkable number of meetings hosted by Brands Hatch during the 60s/70s, seemingly all year round.

It would seem that I went to most of them too ! Go Karts(as they were then called, with Martin Hines) Stock Cars on the Oval, Sprints, Cars abd Bikes...a very full and healthy programme of events, my, how that has changed.

Didn't know people were looking for a photo of John - this is a snap taken in Mondello at the Dublin F5000 grand Prix

That's his wife Angela on the right.

As we have said previously, there really isn't that much in the way of information on John Webb anywhere on the internet.  I spent half an hour searching and came up with very, very little.

I am guessing that there never will be the book that so many of us would have enjoyed...
