Found a site new to me (but perhaps not to anyone else)...

http://desk.blueidea.com/qtbz144.htm

modern cutaways- some duplication, some very similar, not large (1024x768 pixels), but quite a few (8 pages, #137 to 144 - 20/page)

An attempt to catalogue the site.

Apologies about some of the models being mis/undescribed - I'm not really au fait with American cars and don't know enough about the intricacies of the various 911 variants to start guessing at what all those ones are.

P.137:
The long Maybach is the 62 the short one is the 57.
The GM Volt is the 'Sequel'. A fuel cell concept car

The VW Passat on p.138 is a Mk.5b (official VW numbering: B5 GP)
P.139:
The Mercury is a Montego (2005-2007)

Filling the gaps for p.144:
The Pontiac is a G6
First Chevy is a 2004-2008 Malibu
Second Chevy is the 2005- today Cobalt sedan

That's what I knew/figured out.

Thanks for that - it filled in a few blanks caused by my ignorance.

Anyone any ideas what the Ford (I'm presuming it's probably American, as it's left hand drive - Australian 'full size' Fords would, naturally, be right hand drive) is in the first frame of p.141 is? I have it down as a Fusion, but that's very much guesswork. From the look of it, it could share the same basic structure as the Mercury Montego. Though I could be way off with that too.

Does anyone dare attempt to name all the 911 variants on the site?

The 11th image on page 141 is the 2001 Carrera 3.4. The 12th image on page 141 is the 996-generation 911 cabriolet. The 13th image on page 141 is the 911 (996) 3.4 Carrera 2.

To which I can add the further safety concerned cutaway phenomena.

The Ford on P.141 is a 500 not a Fusion.
The 500 was the replacement and also replaced by the Taurus. The Fusion is a whole size smaller car.
What keeps bothering me is that Ford SUV on page 140...

I think I may have got the Aston on page 140 wrong too - it may be a One-77 (IIRC), rather than a Vanquish. Now I've had a closer look.

After a bit of googling I strongly suspect the Toyota on page 137 to be the Alessandro Volta concept, designed in conjunction with Guigario.

Some detail can be found here:

http://supercar.biz/...essandro-volta/

I've still no idea what the SUV at the head of page 140 is though. My first thought was that it was an Explorer, but the shape of the C-pillar doesn't seem to tally.

And please give my regards to Gwendolyn!

PS: Just noticed that this is now the longest thread on TNF, having now beaten the Pete Fenelon book-thread...

Drawings are WW2 vintage, mostly color. Included are several by Reynold Brown. Since I am a fan Of Brown I must say, in my opinion, his work is some of the best of the genre I've ever seen.

I don't know what to say - when I click on the link in the posting I am taken to an ALLHABIT site with a posting that starts with an Alfa Romeo 159, followed by an Audi TT coupe, followed by a BMW Z4...
I haven't seen any adds for unusual products, but I have block all pop-ups because I find them annoying in general.

Are others having problems connecting with the site?

I'm constantly coming across examples of his work. I wonder if he is producing work for say a Japanese equivalent of something like quattroruote? There is also an interesting Mini variation out there somewhere by his hand as well.

I have not seen the Mini - I have recently seen a Ferrari F40 as well as a Lotus Elan S3 and Lotus Europa S1 at better resolutions than we have seen (1200+ instead of 850 pixels).

Hi Guys,
I have only just discovered this forum and I am amazed at the amount of interest in this artform. I am delighted to see heroes of mine ie David Matthews are amongst the contributors even if he did think I was deceased!
The reason I have replied to this page is because the XJ6 (XJ40) cutaway is one of mine, some kind person has taken the trouble to remove my name from the drawing. The engine cutaways would have been drawn by the Jaguar Technical Illustration Department which was closed approx ten years ago.
