Blue-prints are a favourite thing of mine, i am reminded, and these are beauties; each - as far as i know - very convoluted engineering - but that Lagonda inlet has me completely stumped.
welcome Richard and thanks again everyone ..

It looks quite straightforward, standard practice for that period to me!

(yes but, with respect, sir - thats what youre good at, innit? the inset here has just served to confuse, and i am sure you would not have done that ) - now can anyone illuminate for me, by reference to a section or exterior, maybe - is it stacked, siamesed or staggered ? is that a mezzanine floor or a vestibule?
yours steven

Not really cutaway in the sense, but you'd see suspension views like this as part of them.
I just love this clipping, and am still beating myself for never having gotten the previous month's issue of the mag
as it contained like sketches of the rear suspensions.
If memory serves me right it is from MotorSport magazine, so all MotorSports magazine collectors UNITE and
please help me find the rear suspension sketches.
Else if someone can pinpoint the correct 1963 issue I might be able to locate a copy on E-bay

I thought it looked like a Betti, a very quick sketch. Somehow an illustrator's style is most obvious in a quick, simple piece of work.

Ibsen, thanks for the f40. You wouldn't have one of his Lamborghinis by any chance?
You might find this site of interest. It would seem to be the source of most of Kimble's GM related work that you see on the web.

http://media.gm.com/...us/en/news.html

Do an image search. Obvious search terms are Kimble and cutaway, but try chassis, frame, illustration, Chevy V8 and whatever else comes to mind. There is a lot to be found. One term in particular is 1999 Silverado, a mundane subject but comprehensively illustrated from the frame up.

It has to be the longest post on the whole forum ever.
You'll probably have to consider splitting the alfabet somewhere down the middle and make two posts of it.
Printed it comes to 36 A4 sheets, seems splitting it after Lotus would make it 18 A4s per post to do it in two.
It would be devastating if it had to end now.

  and  for a sterling effort Ibsen !

Marc,
I agree. The service of providing this Index should get a major recognition from all of us Cutawayphiles. This stuff isn't easy, but maybe the idea of splitting it in half would make this easier. Just have to save it in Word or some type of program, and copy it in every few weeks ... like you probably haven't figured that out already. Would hate to lose that service ... although I notice that nobody has posted an illustration file since Marc's comments, too.
Well done, Ibsen. Hope the split list thing will solve the problem without much trouble to you.

Here is your cutaway Henri, Thanks for sharing! very unique a T-shirt cutaway scan

Novi fan as I am, I was send a cutaway drawing of the 1960 version of the Kurtis-Novi 500F, originating from 1956.
Regrettably, the Xerox coy I received was not complete and the scan as I mai it here is how I got it.

It comes from the magazine “Motor Trend” June 1960, included within an article “Can the Novi lick the Jinx” written by Bob Russo.

Posted Image

Perhaps one of the other posters out here has access to a better example of this magazine so it can be reproduced in a better quality and complete.
But the story is not complete.

Many years later, I think about 2000 or thereabout, I was send a T-shirt with the exact cutaway drawing of this Motor Trend article on the front and backside.
I include a picture of approval. And a scan as how the car appeared on this T-shirt.

I wonder, how often will cutaways have appeared on a T-shirt.

Marc,
Never saw this Novi illustration, but also never figured out why those magazines would cut sections from a drawing, or lay blocks of copy over them. As to the T-shirt thing, I had a couple of mine used over the years, including one of a streamlined dragster that had been converted to run the salt flats, and a couple of the funny cars. Last year, I spoke to someone at the PRI show, and before I even contacted them on our return, I had three T-shirts with three of my drawings back in the mail. They come out fairly cool, but I am not a big fan of white shirts, so maybe a reverse on black or dark blue or something ...
They are rather fascinating. I would rather see one made in a women's cut ... good excuse to really study a nice chest, wouldn't you think?

TWest,

If I ever find a female volunteer (voluntrice ???) to wear it I have Marc post that one to so you can have a different opportunity to search for the eye of the supercharger on the Novi V8....

Hahaha,

Keeping it anatomical if a lovely shaped woman would wear that Novi shirt:
Try to point out the nipple of the supercharger that was used to bleed off raw liquid fuel that condensed in the snail after switching off the engine....
