Roger, Happy New Year, and thank you for asking. I haven't mentioned Lady Syrup for a while, she was rather miffed at some slight indescretion that I mentioned many posts ago, and in retaliation, ruled that some activities that I had come to rely on were severely restricted, in fact denied. The Spirit of Christmas, not to mention Moet, did mellow her more than somewhat, and my various gifts of pretty but substantial undergarments, an extremely large bouquet of rare orchids and a litre of Bailey's healed the remaining wounds.
She keeps an eye on future trends in motor racing, F1 is still of great interest to her. She is not too pleased by the introduction of smaller engines for 2014, much prefering larger, slower-reving equipment, with longer stroke and loads of torque. Her main complaint is the trend to younger and younger drivers, with very little range of ages and experience. As she said recently, "Tony, dear, dear Tony, when you have seen as much action as I have, from the Monza banking to the Member's Enclosure at Brooklands, from the old Press Box at Silverstone to Knicker Brook, one does so
enjoy a little variety! The one venue that I have very mixed feelings about was Bonneville - so many large, enthusiastic Americans, but the salt gave me a rash on my shoulders and buttocks that lasted for days!"
