Sounds amazing. I've never seen anything like that before. Sounds a little like an advent calendar type construction? Any chance you could get a picture up?

Hopefully I'll be home from around April 20th, and I'll try and scan a page or two. It's a proper book format but very large, and I'd guess late 40's, but definitely Shell. It starts with the entire car, and goes through from chassis to engine, and then each component. So as I saw it I had to have it!!

That's a great link, the 'Beast 3' and especially that Powell Streamliner.

The Streamliner reminds me of something, I will try to post them later (after Free Practice).

It probably is Brian Hatton. Since he produced a lot of pre-season GP cars, can anyone conform whether or not this Talbot is in a 'pre-season' configuration? :) There are experts out there. The Talbot factory - GP preparation must have been in the UK then? Anyway wonderful finds

I can say that the Auto Union isn't in the Eagle cutaway drawing book, which is a good buy if you can find a copy, mine's always on the coffee table.

I have a book at home, issued I think by Shell. It has a very George Eyston looking racing driver on the cover, paperback, large format, and inside are cutaways of a very 30's looking road car, but the twist is, that if for example the engine is cutaway, but the card isn't, there is a folded cover, which when lifed up shows the inside of the carb. It's a lovely thing, and I've never seen another, has anyone else seen it/got one?

I have one of those as well. A very interesting book, well illustrated. It is advertised on Ebay if anyone is interested in purchasing it.

When I was at College in the 70's I did a project on a long life car. I wrote to John Bolster who sent me all sorts of info, but more importantly a contact at Porsche in Germany, who in turn sent a package full of press releases and research literature. One piece was a car illustration printed in layers. There were about 5 or 6 transparent sheets showing different sections of a car, beautifully printed, not on film but on a high quality type of tracing paper. These were left at Barnfield College, Luton in 1975. I wonder if they're still there? :)

I have tried a similar thing in a smaller way - less overlays, but it has always been difficult to get the sheets to align at the printers.

Did you just use a normal paint program and lots of 'pixel perfect'patience or anything special? I'm particularly impressed with the ICI logo since quite a bit of information was missing from there.

just Paint as embedded in Windows, and as you say patience, I must say a good sitting of Glenmorangie helps with the artistic licence
for the rest I am just useless with other programs

Only insert the image as object and adjust (distort) it, making the picture sides parallel.

Yes, no problem. If you pm me an email address I can send you them in 2282x1025 and 1994x1066 respectively. My image hosting service reduces/limits the resolution unless I sign up for a pro-package or whatever they call it.

This Bellu Father and Son combination have tackled some pretty interesting vehicles.

  What a beauty

There are a lot of Similarities between this and the cracking 'Bruno' Betti Alfa P3 you posted on page 42. Same type of highlights and brush strokes used on the body work and the Steering wheel and also a similar treatment of, and purple/red hue about the tyres.

And I was only looking at the Abarth 2000 Pininfarina prototype a few days ago. Beautiful.
