Regarding my query in post #850, here are images of the Harrison Cooper T45-Buick in the third row, 1st & 2nd images from left, and in the seventh row, 2nd image from left, in the link.

I'm not sure that this site has been seen here before ? but there are some good images there.

Something a bit different, Rupert Marks road registered M12 off the line at Prescott last Saturday and yes, he's passed me on the M5 in Somerset.

What a joyous archive the old BARC Yorks galleries provide, including a couple of shots at Oliver's Mount. How nice to see Frank Sowden and his 8 litre Bentley, plus lots of Brian Waddilove, BRW 26, E type, And I had forgotten about Phil Scragg and his 19. As always there is a shot of Cec Booth and his FN LM Replica TMX 543. We have had a link to the site ages ago but still halcyon days for a Yorkshireman.
Many thanks for the prompt. I was fortunate enough to attend Harewood from the first one until the summer of 1965.

Perhaps one of the moderators can contact Brian Waddilove's son who posted here ages ago under the Greg Wood Jaguar 3.8 thread as I know he is very attached to his Father's memory. - vested personal interest, local hero as a lad.... I imagine the Hepworth boys have already seen the site and photos of Father, as they seems very clued up.
Roger Lund

Edit spelling for Phil Scragg

Here are some other Guernsey Sand racers competing in the National hillclimb at Val des Terres 15th July 2006

These cars have their own class here in Guernsey which they compete in when racing in the local events but sometimes they race with the big single seaters in the National event. This year only the Jagernaut did so. In case any of you didn't realise these cars race on the beach here in Guernsey with offroad tyres on the back as well being fitted with slicks for racing on the hill. I'm not sure all these cars pictured still do so but that is what they were all originally built for. The Rocksand Jaguar once had an Autosport article written about it titled something like "Is this the weirdest car racing in Britain?" The class record set by the Bodyline Special is about 3 seconds slower then the outright hill record set by the British championship cars (mid 31 seconds compared to mid 28 seconds).

Where do they run hillclimbs on Guernsey? I have been there and have seen no obvious suitable road.

And the locals are at a disadvantage with the states 35mph speed limit.  And a lot of exotic cars and bikes that must be driven everywhere in first gear. I can though think of a couple of suitable beaches for beach racing.

My renter was a diesel SangYong, I doubt it went much faster. Worst late model car I have ever driven!

The main hillclimb is run on Le Val des Terres, which is the main road running south out of St Peter Port. It was constructed in the early 1930s and this involved cutting through the rock in several places. This means that a couple of the corners have sheer rock faces on their outside:

The first hillclimb was run in 1946, and rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship have been run on it since 1973.

There is also a more minor course which uses the hill leading up from Petit Bot Bay on the south coast.
