Two-disc "special edition", too.
Now, can we stop pretending Pete Aron is real?;)
(which suggests that the petition doing the rounds elsewhere is just 'viral marketing').

Indeed. I shall probably buy the movie, because I'm sure they'll do a fantastic job putting it onto DVD. But if I see another thread pretending that it's 'real', I may be copiously ill.

I wonder what will be on the 2nd disk:
-A- The making of;
-B- All unused reels (I know, we discussed it before);
-C- Docu on racing in those days;
-D- Bloopers;
-E- What TNF had to say about GP;
-F- The sound track or the recording of the Grand Prix LP with Phil Hill comments;
-G- Docu on people who believe Aron is real .
I buy one! Or did I say two?

Nobody really believed that he's real, did they?
(but it's still a good film, with a lot of good footage of real 1966 GP racing)

If I were king of the world, I would have assembled the remaining cast members and the various drivers that worked on the film and done a ripping good retro doco!!
Sadly, I am not.

You'll next be telling me that the Easter Bunny isn't real either (but you can't a-fool-a me, there ain't no Sanity Clause!)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the release of this one, as Ive only ever seen it once, ten or twelve years ago, on television, and I missed part of it because I tuned in late. Too bad there's not a firm date yet, hopefully Warners isnt just fooling around!

Hopefully some extracts from better things that some of the actors went on to do afterwards. In particular, James Garner in the Rockford Files.

Another for my conversion of replacing videos with the DVD in the vain attempt to fit all my worldly goods in the limited shelf space!
Of course the video was a double so I am not sure what that says about extras for the DVD!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia....
"Matt Bishop is the Editor in Chief of the popular Formula One magazine F1 Racing. He is known in Formula 1 circles as 'The Bish', and is one of the best connected journalists in the business. He is also one of the sport's more visible figures, and is well known for his luridly colourful shirts and sinister-looking shades. Bishop also advocates being highly visible in his magazine. Several issues feature more photographs of Bishop than Formula One drivers.
Despite outward appearances of egotism, Bishop is a thoughtful and insightful writer, whose trenchant views are a highlight of not only F1 Racing but also http://www.autosport.com, for which Bishop writes a regular column called 'From the Pulpit'. His writing style has attracted criticism for being self-absorbed and verbose. An F1 Racing feature article will often contain no direct quotes from the subject it reports on.
Despite this, Bishop is regarded by some as among the most influential journalists in Formula 1 today."
Seeing as how this is from Wikipedia, I can guess that this was written by Mr Bishop himself.

(The movie was a four-letter word at the time - beginning with 'c' and ending with 'p' - but the footage of real racing the crew obtained that season should certainly be wonderful to see in DVD quality, and in its entirety...)

Er....don't think FF1600 existed whan the movie was shot ! The cars were FJ and F3 Lotii, one of them was at the Coys thing at Silverstone in 1999, complete mit mock BRM bodywork and exhaust pipes. Better than digital animation as per "Driven", I would have thought. And, of course, the real footage of the 1966 Grand Prix season is fairly comprehensive, maybe the bonus DVD will feature som of that which was not utilized in making the movie?

I went to see the Liverpool premiere of Grand Prix in Cinerama. It was wonderful. The whole experience was fantastic with the surround sound and big curved screen. At various points you could see the whole audience leaning left then right as the camera car rushed round Monaco.
It will be great to get the DVD and be able to partially relive the experience.
