David and Barton Mawer, father and son David ran an MG TC years ago and Barton drives Formula Ford in Australia.
Also in Australia there was the Brisbane family the Peters brothers Ian and Ken and one of their sons also Brett.
Marcel and Louis Renault were brothers and raced until Marcel died in a Paris to Madrid race in 1903.
Bernd Rosemeyer and his son both raced but the younger might have only raced motorcycles.
Kurt Ahrens Jr and Sr raced Formula Junior.
Pierre Levegh had an uncle who raced.
Paul Radisich is the son of Frank Radisich who raced in the sixties.
Another New Zealander is Mike Thackwell whose father Ray Thackwell raced in Australia in a Porsche.
Larry Perkins and Terry Perkins and I think there was another Perkins brother raced in Formula Vee to start and their father was Eddie Perkins who raced a Porsche.
Sid Sakzewski raced a Porsche too and his grandson Kurt raced HQ Holdens.
I remember a Graham Smith and Ross Smith who raced Fiats in club racing in Sydney and Mal Rose and Geoff Rose also and only Mal kept going and in that scene there was also David and Rodney Carroll.
In historic racing there is the Reids Ron has died but Malcolm and David are still going.

Great list! Must have taken some time.

But regarding the Bargwannas, isn't Jason the son and Scott the nephew of Harry?

Joe Fan, the Fittipaldis (Emerson and Christian) should also be a part of your list of AAA/USAC/CART/IRL race winning family members.

The Vukoviches(?), Bill and Billy, as well
The Bettehausens, Tony, Sr. and Gary
Oncle and nephew, Ralph de Palma and Pete de Paolo

Jacques Villeneuve's (Gilles's brother's) CART victory at Road America in 1985 should also be counted in the family's total.

That's quite a list Falcedore and many I haven't heard of but you have made a couple of mistakes if you don't mind me saying.
Ian Simpson also had a brother named Alan and they raced Vees together in Tasmania.
Frank Lowndes also rallied and possibly raced and he was a mud-plugger I'm fairly sure with Donald Thomson and John Pryce and John Pryce's daughter raced too which reminds me about Kaye Whiteford daughter of Doug Whiteford she raced too.
Garry Cooke had a brother in racing too named Denis and their father also raced Bill Cooke.
The Bargwanna family I already mentioned is bigger than that I forgot Scott but there was old Harry and John and Harry and Alf and the two boys and they came from hillclimbs where there was also Alan Burrows whose father was Les who raced before the war and his son was John in sports sedans.
Which reminds me of Eldred Norman and his son Mike.
In the Taylors you could add husband and wife Herb and Gloria.
In the Hoot Gibson family you forgot Paul Grant and Carl and Grant and Carl both went on after racing to work for Formula One teams.
In the Janes there was also Bob's brother Bill Kim's father.
And there was also Alan Heasman and son Doug.

FLB, I only compiled totals for the top families in each series. I don't have the ability to calculate totals from CART races very easily which is why I haven't done the Fittipaldi's. Their total should be somewhere in the 30's total for IndyCar/F1 and is nowhere near the others individually for either F1 or IndyCar. I will add in the lone victory for Gilles brother.

Barry,
Most of the time was taken up by the typing, most of it came out of those speadsheets I sent you copies of last year. Which reminds me - was I supposed to send you updated versions including Bathurst 2000?
I wasn't sure about Bargs's kin completely, I'll defer to you, and leegle there.

Leegle,
There was also a Jane Bargwanna, sister to either Jason or Scott, a former Miss Australia who used the family connection to kick some serious ass in one of those women only Grand Prix celebrity races. She didn't win, but she was well up the field. Must be genetics.

Oh and one more, how could I forget after running into him at Mount Cotton three weeks ago, - the REAL Big Kev. Real Big Kev's don't sell cleaning products, they race Lola F5000s and hideously underbraked Camaros.

Hope Bartlett and son Kevin Bartlett

hang on some more...

Ivan Tighe and son Dean Tighe

no I think I'm out now

tere's also Spencer Lowndes actually - he's not directly related to Frank and Craig - I think he's a cousin - it's the rally mention leegle made the connection.

And Ray Lintott's son is called Martin, not Spencer - getting the guys magled - damn I miss Rallying :(

I'll retro fit them all into the bigger list

Let's get these Bargwannas sorted...

Harry and Alf are twin brothers, are they not?

Jason is Harry's son, and Scott is Alf's son. Correct?

But who are "Harry and John"?

John also raced a Torana he is another brother and their father's name I am almost certain was Harry too. I feel sure he hill-climbed in the sixties but you may be right about the senior Harry but there is a brother John.

I have no Hope for you Falcedore but you have reminded me of Western Australia where the Bartlett Special today is raced by the son of Alan McIntosh who raced it in the thirties and there was also Wayne Negus - known as 'Anus' - son of Senator Sid Negus who raced for about twenty years.
And there was Stuart Kostera who now fosters his Formula Ford racing son of the same name and I don't think you mentioned Greville Egerton son of Ron Egerton and you didn't mention the Hunter family of Brenda and John the children of Percy who all race in historic cars.

I just rememberes the Serviás, Oriol, the son is racing in CART currently but his dad and uncle are both off road experts )Paris-Dakar) and his mother was the navigator of his dad whn they races rallies together, and Oriol was probably the earliest driver ever because she navigated one of those rallies while pregnant, no wonder the guy turned out to be a racer.

And I'm not sure if the rally drivers have been mentioned but Toivonen, Makinen, Gronholm, all had racing dads in the 60's and 70's. And then we have the Stirling Moss in law who now runs Toyota TE.
Going back to Mexico, the current national F Vee champ has a son Agustín Arriaga and AA II, who is the leader in the series this year.
Mara reyes, our woman driver and one of the best ever in our tracks, is the daughter of another racer Miguel (won several modern Panamericana rallies), and has also a brother Miguel II.
There are the van Pratts, Armando (dad) and Erick (son) who just yesterday won the trailers race in Guadalajara. Brothers Rubén and Carlos Pardo are the 2000 touring 2 litre champs in a Chrysler Neon. And in that championship there are several siblings cometing, the Fernández (Alcvvaro and Eugenio) plus their dad Alvaro I, the Herrera renato and Ignacio, the Cabrera Jesús and Gabriel, and the national GT champo, Mustang driver, Rubén García Novoa has an uncle who was one of the best in the 60s, Rubén Novoa. Also the toutng champ in 1999, Lalo Gou is the son of another racer, Eduardo Gou who is still senior champ of Mexico in jet ski.
There must be others but these are the famous ones.
:)

Mr Fred Senior (old man who used to be in the organizing committe of the Mexican GP 1962-70) was an old US acer who came to Mexico. His son Fred Junior (although once he told me he was actually Fred IV) was a US champ around 1967 in a Mustang in one of those classes of the SCCA (he said it not em) but decided to run in Mexico since he had finished his studies. he came here and ran against Moisés Solana, without success but when Moises died became a top driver her ein his Mustang and had a huge accident at the mexican GP 1969 against another driver Juan Carlos Bolaños (who ran Le Mans and Daytona finishing top 10). Freddy became a grat racer here and was champion in several categories like Formula M, openwheel 1.5 liter engined cars, and also tried his hand at Atlantic and F2 with Fred Opert Racing. He was a partner in the Rebaque-Van Beuren-Rojas team which conquerede everything here between 1972 and 1976 plus won the IMSA race in mexico and had a second at Daytona, a top 10 at Watkins and so on. He also race FF and F3 here and went to Venezuela and other palces. He has a son, called Freddy Jr (Fred V) who started along with mexican F2 (old 1988 chassis in a turbo Dodge engine) and went to England to run the Vauxhall lotus series, even won there but had no sponsors and returned. he ran our own prototype series here C-2, and our F3000 (1995 chassis with same shitty Dodge engine) and in 1999 retires, he was 24 I think and now runs the family restaurant( Fred Senior's wife -Freddy Jr's grandma- is an incredible cook and she founded the restaurant and now it has 2 or 3 branches). He told me he retired when a friend of his died racing and he figured it wasn't fun anymore. Fred middle (70's guy) still runs reallies occasionally and serves as marshall or clekr of the course in some events.

Hi!

I just wanna had that Philippe Siffert is actually doing the Clio V6 Trophy.
One of Willy Mairesse's sons tried racing and he was pretty good but he had people doing everything to make him stop. He prefeirs sailing anyway.
Also Alexandre Pilette, one of Teddy's sons, has been a kart champion in Belgium some years ago and his half-bro John tried racing too.

From Madrid, more family racers.

Do you know Salvador Cañellas? He's driving a Seat Cordoba WRC in Spanish and World Rally Championship.

Well, his father, also Salvador, drove the work Seat around Europe, and even won 2 Grand Prix in World Motorcycle Championship.

Watched the IRL race today and saw Airton Dare take his first win: tough luck on Scheckter though (were they mentioned here?).

Dare drives for AJ Foyt. After the race Dare lined up with his boss Anthony Joseph Foyt II and Foyt's grandson, who had won one of the support races. His name? Anthony Joseph Foyt IV!

Harry Schell's dad was Laurie Schell — never raced nor practised at Indy, but his widow Lucy entered a couple of Talbot-Lago in 1940 for Dreyfus & Le Bègue. But he raced in France mainly with Delahayes. He died late 1939 in a road accident.
His mother was Lucy O'Reilly, a voiturette racer in the late '20s and early '30s.

"Cacho Fangio" raced in F3 and F2 Temporadas in the '1960s, he was the natural son of El Chueco and was given the first name Oscar, but was not actually a true "Fangio" for his mother was married with another man whose name I don't know.

New Zealand : isn't dear old Kenny Smith the son of George Smith who raced in the '1950s ?

Ashmore : brothers Fred & Joe (F1 till 1949) each had a racing son : Gerry & Chris.

Mears : brothers Roger and Rick each had a racing son : Clint & Casey.

Dickson : father Tommy (sportscars '1950s) and son Norman (F2 & Aurora '1970s)

Indy 500 : there were too the Russos (bros Paul & Joe, & the latter's son Eddie), the Housers (father Thane, son Norman), the Endicotts (brothers Harry & William), the Parsons (Johnnie & Johnny jr), the Carters (Duane & Pancho)...

Argentina : father Domingo & son Clemar Bucci ; father Luis Rubén & son José Luis Di Palma.

Doreen Evans was the sister of Kenneth.

Irish single seater scene of the '1960s-'1970s : father Malcolm Templeton, son Trevor.

1900-1920 : the von Opel brothers Fritz and Hans (these two at last among a handful of bros) raced the cars they produced. Rikky von Opel (F1 1973-1974) was related, probably a grand-son of one or the other.

Lex Davison had another son racing besides John & Richard, he raced a Formula Ford. I think he is Alex, UNCLE to Alex etc.
3 Perkins brothers raced Larry Terry and Peter.
Mexican brothers Johnny & Axel Gerber who both raced F3 in England late 60's early 70's. 1 of them won a trophy which was to be held for 12 months and then handed back, I dont think to British club got in back.
Bobby Allison's brother Donnie raced also.
