Hello All

I am new to this forum, and I am a big fan of EA Sports's classic F1 game. With four seasons of racing, plus if you look hard enough on the Internet you can find add-on seasons. I am currently in the middle of a 1999 season driving for Williams, after seven races I only have seven points due to a series of silly shunts I have had, including crashing out of a comfortale lead in both Montreal and Monaco, oops.

Are there any other fans of this game here?

I've spent quite some time with the 74-75 mod but it's great to run the tracks of an upcoming GP in the native game or RH-05 mod.

I have it and like Patrik, I use it as the base of the '75 Season Mod.

Where can one procure these 74 and 75 season mods. I have a 1994, 1996, 1997, and 1998 mod, but all of these have a variety of bugs in them that makes it only possible to run a championship with the 1998 season.

Question - I've been able to do well in every F1 game I have ever played, including previous EA F1 games.. But I've owned F1 Challenge for over a year, and I play it off and on every few months. I always end up stopping because I have A LOT of problem braking in this game. It seems that I have to start braking before I can even see the turn almost.. Are there any patches or mods out there to help me out, or can someone point me to what file to edit?

I have it too, I just finished a RH2004 season championship with 45% race length, won it by 4 points in the end, I paid the price for some early DNFs.

Braking - make sure you set your brakes for 100% pressure.

Further, braking in this game is quite a sensitive issue. You can apply full braking power, but you have to gradually reduce it in order to survive and not spin. This is because your downforce decreases as your speed does..

I use F1 99-02 as the basis for WGTS: World GT Series (See also: www.rsr-forum.net).

I played most if not all GP and EA F1 games for PC, and F1C is for me easily the best. If you try this game I have to recommend trying the RH 2005 mod.

Does anybody know where I can get a copy of this game for a reasonable price. Anywhere between £40-£50 seems to be the norm. Is it that good?

Check Ebay. I saw a couple of copies up for auction yesterday.

First post -- hurrah!

F1C 99-02 is a terrific game, especially with mods like RH2005, Prototype C, and the various GT sportscar ones.

And for an old game, it still looks and plays terrifically well.

Timotei Centea, just out of curiosity - are you movie review/RT Timotei Centea by any chance?

I learned of the 70's F1 mod and started looking for a copy.... found a couple copies selling on Ebay for over $200.
Will not buy a 2nd hand game at even 1/10th of this price.

Anyway, someone has info on sellers?
By the way, it is beyond me why EA does not sell the game in downloadable form at least.

I think you should look for rFactor instead, Paolo.

This may seem a daft question, but I can't find a way of saving a race half way through. Am I missing something here?

I've never learnt to fully manage F1C's replay system, which is a bit of a mystery to me. Only way I know of is to quit the session which will be autosaved if the game is previoulsy set to save replays. I think you can insert jump points afterwards but not sure if those can be used to save a new file.

Thanks Patrik. That sounds a bit complicated. I'll have a look. I wonder why there isn't simply a "save game" facillity like on GP4?

I have the game and don't use it. I am on travel at the moment but when I get home later this week I will check to see if I can find the CD and case and registration. If so, it's yours. I assume you are in the UK?

You might want to send me a PM to remind me though.

I still play it, it is simply great. I'm not sure whether R-factor would be working smoothly on my computer so I stick with F1C. There are stand-alone 2007 mods, but I like the physic of standard one best.

Actually, I have a online league race scheduled in an hour from now.

Plus, it really makes watching F1 races far more enjoyable, as well as understanding how the tracks really look like - the cameras are often misleading and onboards are only good for the nearest 10 or 15 meters. Plus, the elevation changes are mostly gone on TV. When I first played F1C I was blowned away by the realism of it, both driving and looks of the track wise.

edit: as for saving the race halfway through, there is no way to do it. Once you're off, you have to finish (or press esc, which will mean an DNF). To save replay, simply go to the "replays" directory and rename the "name of the track you last raced on" file so it won't be overwritten.

Anyone still plays this game I played with Whatto99 online and it was mega-fun with tons of action. It'd fun to have more players..
