Happy Birthday Jack Brabham !
....Too quiet and simple man to interest the journalist and general racing press
....The GUNTHER MOLTER book Is one of the only to place Brabham in perspective.
....An always UNDERRATED driver in his time of racing and after his retirement
....and a very sure driving style .On the so manys manys single seater races Jack brabham entered in , it s certainly the one of the late fifties and for all along the so costly in human loss sixties years , that has the LESS ACCIDENTS .Only his s Silverstone private practice and on the Portugal GP are noticable .
Black Jack was one of the rare drivers (imo) with incredible number of victories (many in F2 and F1 races out of championship ) and that led so many F1 championship races driving ALWAYS BEYOND his possibilities ...
rare are the journalists that noticed that , alas !

Yeeeessssss - and as one of the journalists who has always appreciated the Guv'nor's stature I do take mild exception to some of the above.
Nice point, however, so fellers, raise a glass to the old boy... He scans TNF occasionally and I know he will really appreciate it.

Spoke to ESY this morning - he said it was a great bash and that Sir Jack was in fine form.
Notable guests included Tony and Pina Brooks and JYS.
Eoin was amazed at Frank Matich's dimensions and was happy to report that although Frank Gardner was too poorly to attend, he spoke to him by phone and said the one-liners confirm he 's still in fine form.
Mrs Gardner was there with their son who Eoin was sure was "about 9 foot tall".
The three Brabham boys were there plus the Tauranac brothers.
Eoin: "Could I have a picture of you and Austin?"
Ron: "Oh yeah, I suppose"
Eoin: "Boys, is there any chance you could both smile?"
Austin: "Oh yeah, I suppose"
Ron: "I don't think anyones ever photographed the two of use before"
