A pic of Dave Rodgman in the Sadler MkI. Dave bought this car and raced it in the original condition until he wrote it off. One of his buddies said that the car was too short to handle properly so the car was rebuilt and lengthened and given an aluminum body and Corvette power. Dave thinks that he sold it to a fellow named Dampier but has no idea where it ended up.

I have taken the liberty to lift this picture posted by Daniel 49 from the Sadler Sports Cars thread, I trust that I will not cause any offence. Although out of focus the Austin /Morris J2 Lucas van looks interesting, although somehow I don't think that it was taken in Blighty!

Dave says that this picture was taken at Harewood Acres, 1962ish, maybe!

Thank you Daniel thats another interesting photo. I am surprised to see a two stroke D.K.W. in the picture. although I did see one in the car park on the Altermont Speedway / Rolling Stones documentary on the telly. Getting back to the J2 van, would there have been many of these in Canada?

I have just received Oxford Diecasts 1-43 scale Austin K3 van in Mann Egerton’s livery. In 1951 this Norwich company sponsored the Mann Egerton Trophy, first at Fersfield and then later at Snetterton, so it is feasible that this van (or one like it) would have been present at the races. Whether it was or not is immaterial, it’s a nice idea and a nice model.

Funny but this thread is not on my list ?

Question in the early 50 at Goodwood (elsewhere too?) was a Bedfor O tractor with semitrailer called The Friary Mobile Bar. Anyone knows about it ?

This morning I had the pleasure of meeting Reg Bradley who ran Sideways Garage in Walsham le Willows, Suffolk and provided recovery at Snetterton. Reg moved to Suffolk in August 1973 having worked for Ford in the development department. Originally he used a red/white Austin Gipsy breakdown; then he purchased this 1952 Morris MRA 1 with a 4.2 litre 6 cylinder motor from a sale in Devon.

The Morris also found fame on the small screen when it appeared in Lovejoy, it was seen towing the antique dealers Volvo estate. I seem to remember that this was the very first episode; but I may be wrong. Unbelievably when Reg retired he could not find anybody interested in the truck and ended up giving it away!
