Please help me with identyfing these two pictures. I've saved it with a caption "1960 Modena" but according to F2 Register John Surtees didn't race at Modena that year. There are not other F2 races where both Surtees and Ferraris no.24 & 26 were entered... Any ideas?

I bet Graham Gauld would know. I'm sure he'll respond if he has an answer.

Take a look here: http://www.formula2.net/F260_Index.htm . I did take a quick look, and found only Modena that fits numbers but no Tyrrell or Surtees there. The only Tyrrell entry for Surtess I found was Oulton, but no Ferraris there.

Surtees raced an FJ Cooper under the Tyrrell banner in 1960 - don't recall him being at Modena, though (OTTOMH)

Thank you for the kind words David !!!
I would say the photo was taken in October around the time of the F2 race. Possibly after the race meeting as it was taken during a Ferrari test session at Modena as the prototype rear engined car and the front engined Dino were the same two I photographed in late April early May 1960 when Ferrari were doing back to back tests with the front and rear engined versions. Ing Chiti is in the tie with old engineer Bazzi with his back to the camera and it looks like Richie Ginther as the smaller of the two drivers.

Thanks, I'm now sure in 105% that it was at Modena.
But still not have a clue what Tyrrell and Surtees did there if not raced? The FJ race was a week later and there were only Italian entries.

It may be that Tyrrell was invited to participate in the race and the organisers had the name board painted more in hope than expectation.
Remember that race entries were far less regulated way back then.

Yes, I remember about it. Probably it is an only explanation. However they have usually written "DNA" on the entry list.
