Later it went to Clearihan, who already owned the white one. The DFV-powered (or was it DFL?) car of Romano remains with Romano.

I was talking to a guy (impeccable source) only a couple of days ago and coincidentally Bap's name came up and he said that Bap still has it in his garage and it looks better than brand newOriginally posted by Ray Bell

The F2 car was and is white with a blue stripe on both sides and the sports car originally when first raced was beige with a brown and red/orange stripes and later Rob painted it yellow and when John Fraser owned it stayed yellow and Paul Scott painted it white. When it received the rotary Jeff Harris painted it red and then Rowan Harman painted it yellow.

The Horgan Elfin with its screaming rotary, the Auscams, the various Kaditchas and Centaurs, maybe that copy McLaren of Barry Singleton and the delightful ex-Hanger Rennmax of Gentleman John Fraser.
Not to mention the Terrifying Revolving Ensemble...

Why do people think that loud rock-type music belongs with racing cars. Anyway, on a positive note, Tom seemed to finish up beating most of those pesky Clubmans...

If I am correct the last time that I saw this car it was in the garage of Lindsey Osmond of Minto, NSW who was running it with the Rotary Motor, I believe that he run the car at Calder once but nothing after that.
Where is this car now?

And Bernie Van Large's Bollwell. Complete with Jim Doigs sunvisor! Doig spent so many races hiding under that wing.Couple of Chris and Bap from Calder 1984
I believe that car is back on the road,, less wing. Just the ideal thing for a Sunday Mornings drive in the hills. Though the 80k limits everywher will defeat any fun!

hammer and tongs (not scanned). Poor Jim, he had it all over Bernie in the twisty bits but the Bolwell had so much grunt in a straight line.....
Rear shot of Romano leading Clearihan at the same Calder meeting - good indication of how much quicker Romano's car was...

That was a Touring Car round at AIR, the sports cars raced with the Sports Sedans. It was a bit scarey as Doig passed me into the reverse camber, about where he eying off Dave Ferrall and all I saw when I turned in was his red helmet. And it was 27 years ago. Where has all that time gone?Bit off topic, but a quick shot with Jim Doig chasing Bernie Van Elsen - he's just got to get past Gurney and the Charger to get to him! I have some b/w's from another AIR meeting where it is just Jim and Bernie going at it

It looks like Bernie may have had a small excursion as the front spoiler is full of gravel.

In the last photo at Calder the white car with the red stripes is the SR781 owned by Jeff Harris with the Rotary in it.

"Poor Jim" - he loved it! Reckoned he could get an extra 10 mph down the straight with the nose of the ASP underneath the Bolwell wing... Sad day for Jim when Bernie retired the Bolwell.
