There are, of course, several photos in the 1955 Australian Grand Prix report in The Official 50-Race History of the Australian Grand Prix, and some more (from memory) in With Casual Efficiency (available from the Sporting Car Club of South Australia. Which also tells of the building of the circuit, if my memory serves me right.
You have just missed, however, one of the moving forces behind the circuit. Steve Tillett died only a year or two back, he was one of the financiers and hard workers on the project. Clem Smith, however, is still around and was there in those days, as are some others. Going to the SCC of SA library would be a good move.
