As a school kid I can remember Bonnier, Salvadori, Hulme etc, running or warming up in the straight at Wigram and Teretonga. Sort of a blast for 200m - uturn and then back down in front of the grandstands for a repeat. This went on for 15/20 minutes prior to the main race.
Did this happen during events [circa 1961/2] in the UK and or USA?

If it is their own bodies then I would love to have seen Frolian Gonzalez doing a quick burn-up at Wigram!

Confused? You must be!

Are you certain?

Or are you infering it was a reliability check?

PS don't let Ian Senior see this thread!

There used to be a little warm-up track inside Hell Corner at Bathurst for this purpose...
