Hello there,

I am new to this forum and do not know whether my question has already been answered elsewhere - but I have found nothing really satisfying.

As I am writing an article for the new-founded German AJS-/Matchless-homepage, I wonder about the forenames of Henry Collier and his sons. Was the father´s name Henry Herbert or Henry Albert (I prefer the 1st alternative, for one often reads about "HH Collier and sons").

What stood the "R" in Charlie´s forename for? In 99,9 % of all cases, the oldest Collier son is titled as "Charlie", but his correct name was Charles R. - but R... what???

The same problem arises with "Harry" or Harry A. (or was it Harry H.?!?). Who knows his full and correct forename(s)?

If anybody knows the complete names of the Stevens family (AJS), too, my thanks will be endless  ;)

Cheers, Jan
