But the Hezemans are the lesser know if you take the first step.
We know a lot of Mario Andretti, Theodore Pilette but who know's about Mathieu Hezemans.
I found out that he raced a Porsche Special maybe a Glöckler Spyder in 1954/55 and than switched to a Porsche 550. He race at the Ring LeMans and with Beaufort. But what can you tell more?

He made two Porsche-specials made out of Porsche and Volkswagen parts. The first he had was nicknamed the Iron (dutch: Strijkijzer) as the body looked set to remove all wrinkles in the road.
A more streamlined version was introduced in 1955. It was also called Porsche-Trenkel due to the austrian tuning parts used in this car.
Matthieu, or Thieu was (also like his son) quite helpful to mentor young guns into racing. On of his pupils: Carel Godin de Beaufort.
Major racing participations are:
1953 1000 km Nurburgring Porsche 356 with Van der Meulen, 15th;
1955 Hockenheimring Porsche 550A (German Sportscar Championship) 5th;
1955 500 km Nurburgring Porsche 550A (German Sportscar Championship) 13th;
1956 1000 km Nurburgring Porsche 550A with De Beaufort, 24th;
1956 Le Mans 24 hours Porsche 550A with De Beaufort, DNF (ret 6th hour/48 laps)
1956 GP Sweden Porsche 550A with Oebels, DNF;
1957 1000 km Nurburgring Porsche 356A with Oebels, 43rd;
1958 1000 km Nurburgring Alfa Romeo Giullieta SV with Oebels, DNF;
Hhh, sorry we could only cheer so short for you at LMC! Hard luck.

Nope, only of the 1955 Porsche-Trenkel. It looked quite similar to a 550 spyder, just with some more body fat. Must buy a new scanner...

Carlos are you sure that he was driving a 550 Do you have a picture prove. The Trenkel or Glöckler were often called Porsche spyders too.Originally posted by Carlos Guerra
Hugo,
Thieu drove a 550 RS in Lisbon, 24 July 1955.
The Trenkel changed ownership after the 54 season. He started with the Trenkel at Hockenheim and the brought a new car onlyx half a year later ?

Strangely enough I can't seem to find the date and place of birth for Thieu Hezemans.
Does anybody know?
Not sure I should answer an almost eight year-old question but since I was looking for the same information and took me a while to get it, I put it here. June 21, 1915 in Eindhoven, according to the information in this french forum: http://forums.motorl...ad.php?p=518440.
Now if anyone knows if he is alive or in alternative the date of his death I would be grateful for the information (no problem waiting seven years... ).

Well, I had to wait only around 7 hours. Just discovered in a dutch newspaper Mathieu Hezemans died on February 4, 1985 (my problem was searching for Mathieu instead of Thieu as he was better known at the time). In a way thanks to a TNF post with the link to the archive of "De Telegraaf".

I can't answer that question Hugo, but maybe it's worth pointing out the Hezemans family has another racer: 17-year old Loris Hezemans, son of Toine and the (much) younger brother of Mike, is racing in the Clio Cup Benelux and Audi Sport TT Cup this year.
So to summarize:
Mathieu 'Thieu' Hezemans (21.06.1915 - 04.02.1985)
Antoine Emile 'Toine' Hezemans (15.04.1943) (not 14 April as some sites suggest)
Mike Hezemans (25.07.1969)
Loris Hezemans (26.05.1997)

Loris Hezemans, son of Toine and (much) younger brother of Mike
I assume Mike and Loris are half-brothers. Right?
BTW, Loris' nationality is Belgian. Confirmed by Toine Hezemans:
“Mon fils habite Bruxelles et a la nationalité belge"

Yes, Reinhard, correct on all counts. His mother is Belgian and he lives in Brussels, hence his nationality. When he started racing in the Clio Cup Benelux in 2014 he did so with a Belgian license, but he has since switched to a Dutch one, and his race suit clearly has a red-white-and-blue flag on it.
So there you go: a 17-year old Belgian with a famous surname and racing with a Dutch license... who does that remind you of ?

Does someone know when Hezemans started his car bussines at Eindhoven?
