History repeating itself?
The BLT that somebody mentioned earlier was DKW powered and turned up in Vancouver in the mid eighties in remarkably original condition but I don't know what has happened to it since then.

Flicking through the programme for the Trio race meeting at Brands on June 28 1959 I see that the Saxon was entered with a 996cc BMC engine in the monoposto class for C Scott MacArthur by M S Gomm, presumably Mo Gomm. Or was it the same chap? What was the connection?
As an aside, talking at the Revival to the owner of the Scott Watson, ex Jim Clark, DKW SonderKlasse, he reckoned it is giving over 100bhp, and with the roller bearing engine revs were not an issue.

FJ was just before my time so I have never focused much on it, but watching at Donington recently, I noted there were some 2-stroke engines in use.
I believe SAAB and DKW engines were used. Was there any equivalency formula or was it just the same capacity for all? I know that FJ was 1000cc, or 1100cc with a higher minimum weight, so presumably these were 1000cc 2-strokes and had the weight advantage. Can someone educate me on this?
I recall Eric Carlsson understeering his way round Brands in the 2-stroke SAAB formula junior, hanging the engine out the front didn't seem to have much obvious benefit, though of course, Carlsson's weight may have played a part...
