Spare a thought for Bev who was re-admitted to Poole Hospital on Friday and is unwell at this time. Hopefully he will pull through again and achieve his ambition of racing next season, if he can find a kind benefactor to lend him a historic Formula Ford chassis for the year.

Sorry to hear that Tony.
Get well soon Bev and hopefully we'll get that fancy colour scheme on a car soon.

Very sad news, although I feared this news was coming. His charity work should act as an equally fine legacy as his driving.

Sad to be reading this news. I have been thinking about Bev and remembering his exploits in the first Formula Three Ensign in 1971. I can also recall what was possibly his last competitive drive in 1974 in Harry Stiller's Formula Atlantic March.
Thanks for posting Tony.

Can't quite work this out. Supposedly Bev Bond and Carlos Pace going off at Brands Hatch in 1970 but I can't locate any matching results.

Pace jumped into the lead, with Matchett, Bond, McCully and Hawthorne giving chase, but at Clearways the Brazilian overdid it, spun and caused McCully to take avoiding action and spin also. The pair continued 13th and 14th at the very end of the field.
Carlos Pace was driving a Lotus 59 and Allan McCully a Brabham BT28, with Bert Hawthorne and Steve Matchett in Chevrons. Very serendipitously, the only photo of the event shows Pace leading McCully. Pace’s Lotus wears #48, while McCully’s Brabham has the lighter-coloured fins and rear wing as in Paul’s photo, and Allan’s crash helmet also matches.
I reckon the cars still on track in the photo are Steve Matchett (Chevron B15) leading Bev Bond (GLTL Lotus 59), Bert Hawthorne (Chevron B17) and a crossed-up Keith Jupp (Brabham BT28).

It may have been that meeting, if not then another one in period, when a friend of mine watched practice and went into the greasy spoon canteen that used to be set back behind the main grandstand. An 'old lady' (given our perspective at the time, someone over 40) asked how Bev did. She was his mum.

In 2017 my sister was having weekly chemo sessions at Poole Hospital. A framed photo on the wall caught my eye (I was with Colin Vandervell when he was part of the Andy Sutcliffe, Bev Bond, Mike Walker era)
It was signed by Bev and dedicated to the wonderful nurses at the unit. I believe he had died a few weeks before
