There are 3-761s in the US:

-James King- Ex-Beta- Vittorio Brambilla
-Howard Cherry- Ex-Peterson- Red, White and Blue...financial company from Baltimore? Brain fade
-Andy Gilberg- Ex-6 wheeler 761 chassis converted to 4 wheeler

I thought the '6 wheeler' rear end was grafted onto more than one chassis in its time!

I had 761/7 that was the first car owned by Williams Grand Prix engineering - he started the new team after he had fallen out with Walter Wolf in 1976.
That was driven by Patrick Neve and sponsored by Belle Vue beer.
According to the factory build sheet it was built with as many used parts as possible, including the tub which was from a 751.
I sold it last year and it is still in Belgium and should be restored soon - until then it is in the museum at Spa/Stavelot.

Rodrigo Gallego owns 761/8 the ex- Bleekemolen F&S properties sponsored car.
It was owned for many years by Count Donhoff until Rodrigo bought it and had it restored by Mecauto (who will restore 761/7) and he won the TGP championship with it.

Showing my age now as my memory is getting vague but perhaps someone can shed light on this little mystery? At Silverstone a number of years ago for a World Sportscar race I walked the complete lap of the track and at somewhere around the Woodcote area(?) came across the tub of a March in distinctive orange Beta colours(Brambilla?) simply lying on the ground. At the time I suspected it was a written off tub that marshals had used for rescue training?Anything anyone? Ian.

Well my query certainly stopped this thread in its tracks!!Perhaps it was all a dream? I certainly remember a crowd of us looking at the tub and several people joking that this was typical of Brambilla who had a reputation as a destroyer of cars! Anyone shed light on this matter?

I did a query on my databases for the March 761 and 761B. The chassisnumbers have been compiled and constructed by myself, based on lots of sources back in the seventies. Constructed, because it includes the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring 1977. It must have happened, because DSJ was there and he saw it all with his own eyes. I haven't been able to find any other report of this race, so there are no chassisnumber lists available.

Anyway, I couldn't find another way to send all this info to you. So it is available in a png file.

You have to copy the picture to your disc and view and enlarge it to be able to read it, but at least you have it then.

Thanks for that Henk,it was interesting that you had made the comment about Brambillas crashes! I still wonder why the car was simply lying there.I know race cars were not held in such esteem back then and were often discarded once replaced by a faster model but from what I remember the tub certainly seemed to be whole! Thanks once again.Ian.

Twinny's obviously tired of saying the same thing but you really, really will find the answers to these questions on OldRacingCars.com. Just follow his link and then try clicking on a few things. Or use the driver search to find Hayje, Bleekemolen and Lunger and see which car they were racing.

Makes me wonder why I bother...
