The 1963 Johore GP is mainly known for being the event when/where Yong Nam Kee (or Nam Kee Yong) was killed at the wheel of his newly acquired XKSS/D-type Jaguar XKD510.
It is established also that Albert Poon was the winner, driving his usual Lotus 23. But I wonder who was the driver, then, of the FJ Lotus 18 number 22, and which was this peculiar car : entrant ? Chassis number ? Previous owners ? Later history ?
Everything regarding that race would be of interest to me.
Thank you all,

And suddenly, almost four years later and after some hectic Google searches, I got the answer by myself...
That racer was John Kirk of Hong Kong, who apparently was a newcomer and went on to drive a Lotus Elan the following year.
Now, does somebody here have further info about this driver ? Was the Lotus 18 he drove at the 1963 Johore GP the car seen in Steve Holland's hands in 1964 ?

Glad to see perseverance paid off :-)
I can't add much about John Kirk except the on racingsportscars.com John is listed having driven a Lotus 23 in the 1965 Macau GP.

Yes, I rarely give up...
This is the link where I found the info, for the rare birds who would be interested :

You must select I agree... before being able to see the scanned article. And there are further articles about the Johore GP in this newspaper the previous and following days (30th Aug., 1st and 2nd Sept.)

Re the queries about the Lotus 18 FJ used in the Johor GP. At that time is was owned by Harpers of Hong Kong and Albert Poon, John Kirk and Steve Holland all drove it at one time or another. When it became obsolete Harpers sold it to John Macdonald for HK$ 7,000. John used it to win the 1965 Macau Grand Prix and it was his spare car for the 1966 Macau GP. I believe that he sold it in January 1967.

This is a detailed and apparently well documented answer. Thank you very much Angus.
Photographs of this car are still welcome, of course...
