Perhaps this has been answered elsewhere, but...the Merit kit of the 1956 Vanwall has little "blips" in the bodywork, right above and in front of the front suspension, as in this photo:

I finally came across a photo of the actual car, with the "blips"...it looks like maybe when the car was introduced...but I can't find any photos of the car racing with the "blips"...did it ever race like that?

I've looked at a few photos in various books of Moss and Schell in the 1956 International Trophy. It's difficult to tell definitely, but I think the 'blips' are there.
