Ummmm....HIGH CARBON, GREY IRON COMPOSITION Cast Iron Rotors are resistant to destruction and weakening by oxidation (rust).

I have been amazed how little damage salt water seems to do to heavy guage steel and iron,, but get it inside sheet metal and it disapears almost before your eyes. But alloy is worse. I can remember seeing a adbondoned/ dumped VW beetle where we used to go offroading on a beach, mangroves and dunes.. One week a complete engine, the next you could see the crank in the engine and the gears on the transaxle. But the steel internals were still shiny. The steel was still there at that time.
But that HQ ute should be ready for work next week with a wash,, and wheels!

When I used to run at Speedway City which was watered with salty bore water every chip and scratch went rusty, the alloy went white. That when washing the car thouroughly the following morning. And box sections have been known to rust out over a short time.
and as Peter said dirt and muck get into places you would never expect.

Looks as if you're just about beating the incoming tide at any rate!

That about all I did beat!

As for the tide.....

Also Jaguar powered, one of only 4 specials that were racing that day

Two of them had XK engines, one had a Chevy and the third was a mysterious 1960s single seater with a Buick in the back. Like an idiot I never investigated that car fully and ran out of film before I photographed it properly!

The Vazon Sprint course runs behind that sea wall you can see in the background.

Were the EPA called out about the oils slick from the Jags?

I would be quite surprised if the States of Guernsey acknowledged such a body. The Channel Islands seem to be run by far more sensible people.

Agree with you there Stu! A very sensible, civilised place with a thoroughly positive attitude to most things. I think it was legal to tow race cars around on the roads without the need for trailers or trade plates or other such inconveniences :smoking: And more motor sport venues of one kind or another per square mile than anywhere apart from possibly Monaco.
