Lucio Cesario co-drove with Bob Wollek and Alessandro Nannini to 6th in the 1985 Le Mans 24 Hrs. In TATS it says that he was Italian, which fits the name at least, but it has been suggested to me that he was Australian, and that he drove in Australian F3. Which is correct? Did he have dual nationality, race under a different nations racing license perhaps?

He was an Aussie when I knew him (about 1982-4) A very nice bloke.
His father was named Gay Cesario and he raced Fiats in Victoria in the late 60's, Gay was born in Italy but I am not sure if Lucio was born before Gay moved to Australia or after.

Just for information I'll tell that in Italy you can have dual passport but dual citizenship is not allowed. Make your own considerations

Yes, sometimes the flag reflects the issueing country of the racing licence. That's why you sometimes saw Hans-Joachim Stuck with an Austrian flag beside his name.

Do we have any Aussie who can dig out the correct birthdate for Lucio Cesario?

Several racingdriver databases states 1951, but this article about a 53-year-old Cesario in May 2013 should suggest 1960 or possibly 1959?

http://www.racingspo...esario-AUS.html claims 1931, THAT I don't believe at all!

I expect Racing Sports Cars have confused father and son.  They have done that before as their checking process is not as good as it should be.

1960 or thereabouts fits with his age when I saw him racing...

As I already wrote in the "Le Mans drivers" thread it seems his father died in early 2012 (source: http://connection.eb...ale-gay-cesario).

Maybe someone has Australian Auto Action from 18 April 2012, issue 1487 (p.28), and can tell us whether or not his father's life dates are given which could give a hint to the son's age.

The Chevron book 'The Great Race' covering the 1987 Bathurst race has his birth year as 1951.   That surprises me as that makes him older than me and I still think of him as a young gun.......

Former lady racer Pam Elam did a 'Driver Dossier' in the #6/1982 issue of Australian Motor Racing. In that it states a birth date of January 6, 1959.

There's also a 2 page feature in the #6/1981 issue of the same title.

Failing all this his brother Sandro, is a passionate Fiat and Ferrari enthusiast and through the Fiat Car Club of Victoria would be a good start to contact him and ultimately Lucio.

I know that Lucio is younger than me.

He was a young gun in F2 in about 83. Which would make him 24 even then. I thought he was a bit younger.

AFAIK he is Aussie born of Italian born parents.

In those early 80s he was very quick, very consistent but a bit hard on cars. And I feel sure he [and probably family] were paying for it all.
