Sad when anyone departs too soon.

Monaco 1975

sorry my verry bad Inglish.

But what is Gnôle? I don't think brandy is the correct translation.

I think I said:
Clay was Swiss and all the Swiss speak more than one language - French and German, German and Italian, Italian and French and sometimes another: English or perhaps Arabic.

La Gnole is a home made brew, made by the locals, 40/50 per cent proof. (The recipe...) is jealously guarded by them, for drinking amongst friends.

Well that's my best shot!

Back in 1974. Rega visited former Yugoslavia for a few days.
A friend recently found a bunch of letters, newspapers clips and photos that belonged to local Phillip Morris PR.
Nice material, really, including original photos probably never published before.
An autographed one, as well.
Of course I bought it from him (got an original James Hunt autograph as bonus, too) and I'm planning sometime in the future to publish an article about that visit.
A long shot, obviously, but maybe someone else knows something about those few days of Rega visiting Yugoslavia that could be useful to me?

Nice photos. Thanks for sharing them.
The "someone else" in the Unser photo is Lucho Bruschi, whose daughter Elaine was a friend of mine. She and her mother had Bomba Boutique in Maidenhead in the late 70s selling Clay's clothing line.

Dec 15 marks the fourth annivesary of Regga's death. What else could he have been but a racing driver, a Ferrari driver for a total of six years.. He won at the great circuits of the world, the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Monza and Silverstone. Had the great pleasure of winning Williams' first grand prix and just loved being a racing driver.

I was happy to discover that teammate Niki Lauda wanted him retained as a teammte and it was the way that Ferrari treated Regga in the end that added to Niki's leaving. Also, it always make me so pleased that I saw him race.

He was taken too soon and the Swiss was a great driver who diappointingly just missed out winning the title in 1974 and is a driver that ought to be remembered by those who had the pleasure of being around when he raced.

Many of us here have fond memories of Clay, as shown by the multitude of tributes that were posted when he died:

Can't believe it's been eight years today already.

By sheer coincidence as part of building a collection of old races from various sources from 1950 to present, I happen to be watching this today, arguably one of Regga's best performances:

I previously posted this photo I took in 1975 at Watkins Glen in 2008 in a different thread that's buried somewhere. Thought it might be appropriate here. Hard to believe so many years have gone by since Clay passed away.

The Long Beach track certainly has changed, and not for the better...
