Hi

I'm trying to establish the year Hans Walter competed on the RAC Rally in a Porsche 356. It would have been late 50's early 60's.

The car had the competition # 3 , is the car still in existance ?

He carried number 3 and finished 3rd in 1961.

in my database I have Peter Harper & Ian Hall (Sunbeam Rapier, #10) finishing 3rd and first in Class 2.

I'm I wrong?

I've found Walter & Sprinzel with the Porsche 356 Coupé #3, but I don't have his final classification or if they really finished the rally.

This was the event at which Walter is said to have arrived at scrutineering having taken a hammer to all 4 corners of the car (there were still penalties at the finish for damage during the rally then....).
This is not evident in the photo above. Not in first 9 finishers (Harper 3rd) and not reported in a list of significant retirements.

Apologies. I was looking at the entry list and thought it was the final classification! Walter and Sprinzel finished 15th overall and 1st in the 2-litre GT class.

Motor Sport (WB) mentioned the damaged wings.
