Peter is of course, currently on the move ( " living the dream, mate")and may not have sighted this advertisement. Then again he may have his hands full not just with his Turnham Holden turbo sports car touring Oz Historic meetings but I saw him last 2 weeks ago in the company of Warwick McBean -- so they are probably lowering property values in the Newcastle area

I note the 1.3ltr engine.

I wonder whether the scruitineer was slack, under the influence (an old builder's trick) or just planning a career with the FIFA.

I think the price being asked for this small piece of aluminium gives the game away. Perhaps Mecum Auctions would be interested for one of their historic vehicles...

out of interest how do they prove the provenance or is the price not showing any "Bruce McLaren" premium?

Vol 5 of the Sheldon/Rabagliati "black Book" Record of Grand Prix & Voiturette Racing is on EBay. This APPEARS to be a copy of the 1st Edition. TNFrs may wish to be aware that Formula One Register have now published an updated/corrected 2nd Edition available at £75 + P & P - see their web site

The official title of the 12th June race was the ‘Marlboro European Formula 3 Trophy’, almost exactly as it appears on the sale item. The 2nd October race was the only 1983 F3 race held at Silverstone where Senna finished second, so if one was trying to pass this off as a Senna trophy it’s the only race one could possibly choose. Not that I’m suggesting any such thing, of course ...

That's been listed several times since the summer. Probably because £1/4M is a touch optimistic for a replica? DK Engineering 250TRs go for half that and are rather more exotic mechanically.

There are a number of lots of truly nostalgic motor sport negatives here.
This is the list of one person's collection of lots!
Each lot is well illustrated - click on image to bring the lot up, than go down the page to where the images are displayed and click on one to bring 'em up at a good size.
Even if you don't want to buy them there is much of interest in just looking!

WOW!

The first batch of 1938 Donington pictures, all taken at Melbourne, appear to have escaped from The Motor. There are also some others from the same race in one of the miscellaneous lots, but taken in Holly Wood - given that connection I wonder if those could be a few odd Robert Fellowes negs? There are some LCC Relay pictures, some of the International Trophy, at least one from the Dunlop Jubilee meeting, a very wet Brighton Speed Trials, some Lewes Speed Trial pics, various other Brooklands and Donington meetings, Stuck at Shelsley in 1936 ...

Some post-war stuff too - mainly Silverstone, but I think there's some Goodwood in there as well. Blurry portrait of a young SC Moss, some 500s in the Shelsley paddock ...

I'm not absolutely sure it's Gueux. Post-war, but I can't identify the race either: the numbering doesn't seem to fit any of the F1 races at Reims from 1948-51.

Chris is right. Here is this corner 57 years later:
Posted Image

The picture in question was taken during Grand Prix de l'A.C.F. on 18 July 1948. It shows Charles Pozzi in his old Talbot-Lago T26SS leading Louis Chiron in Talbot-Lago T26C and Comte George Raphael Bethenod de Montbressieux aka "Raph" in another Talbot-Lago T26C.

Don't think any comment is needed on this one.

http://www.ebay.co.u...ME:B:SS:GB:1123

It always amuses me to see the prices asked on eBay for 'Genuine rare Colin Chapman autographed steering wheels', and the like. Back in the 70s, almost every Escort and Viva in the Lotus car park sported one of those. Surprised that this artefact doesn't contain a 'Genuine Colin Chapman cigarette butt'.

Threw one in a skip back in mid 70s, cheap piece of plastic crap, it was split and held together with insulation tape.

Nice! Pretty sure that the annotation "Filton Sprint" is correct on these, due to the presence of the Lightweight Special and Gerard's ERA. I've only ever seen one very blurry picture of this meeting before. Conditions - misty - look right, very few spectators as it was a private meeting. Is the last shot Bloody Mary?

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f12547631

The Swiss GP pictures are 1938 - some are the Prix de Berne, some the GP:

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f125437e1

These are the same meeting, but must be practice. No rain!

Definitely the October 1945 Filton Sprint (as I posted here earlier) and Pete Stowe and I both think it's Bloody Mary.

Definitely ....think it's Bloody Mary.

Certainly is, you can tell by the body language and the right arm position, apart from the car itself.

Looks pre-war to me, but I can't think where. Obviously a part-completed housing estate or similar. Initial guess would have been Whitchurch, but Bloody Mary didn't run there. And I don't think it rained either.

One or two other interesting cars there too. No.3 looks very much like a 1924 GP Sunbeam to me - could it be "The Cub"? and is No.23 the Austin 7 MacLaghlan Spl?
