At the IJzer museum at Diksmuide in Flandres Belgium there is a photo of a damaged racing car.
The photo is believed to be made in 1914 during the first days of the great war near the city of Antwerpen, in the North of Belgium, perhaps when on the escape to the Netherlands, a neutral country in this war.
What is the make, and what is the racinghistory of this car?

Is there no one to solve this little mystery?

Maybe (just a suggestion) the 3.3-liter S.A.V.A. which was driven by René Berger in the 1914 Tourist Trophy.

Sorry, Robert, but no. The SAVA is pictured in Robert Kelly's "TT Pioneers" - it had a more rounded radiator and was painted a darker colour. In view of the colour (white? maybe yellow?) I wondered about the TT Adlers, but it's not one of those either.

Background looks a little French Paul? I'm sure I have seen this car in William Court's Power and Glory?

I wondered if the radiator might look Minerva-esque?

Well, yes, sort of. But if it's a Minerva then the exhaust's on the wrong side :p

(That doesn't exclude the possibility the negative's been reversed of course!)

There is a number on top of the radiator that says 21265.
Is it somekind of Belgian licenceplate..?
May be our friend Pilette can tell us more...

I've been puzzling over this one all day. I can't find any GP car to match it and it looks just a bit too small for the period - could it be a 3 litre built for the Coupe de l'Auto?
