Hi All

Can anybody help me identify a photo of a Porsche 917 that raced at the Nurburgring 1970's ?

Sorry can't post the pic. , scanner up the shoot !

Porsche 917

Number # 49

Nurburgring

The car has a Shell logo above front air take and to roof of cockpit , Firestone logos above the headlights.

I would be very pleased if there is any positive feedback out there.

Many thanks

Rob

At the 1970 1000 kms, Toivonen and Axelsson PRACTISED a 917 with # 49 but it was withdrawn before the race.

It was entered by Team AAW. Could this be the one?

It was the Porsche 917 serial number 021 entered by the team of Antti Arnio Wihuri, the car was withdrawn for the race because of the fatal crash of Hans Laine during practice, with a Porsche 908 of the same team.

AAW also owned a 906, in the familiar yellow & red livery. Does anyone have a good photo of that car?

It was driven twice in 1970 by German driver Helmut Bross.
