Belgian MX rider André Malherbe was one of very best during the first part of the 1980s.
500cc World Champion in 1980, 1981, 1984 and runners up in 1983, 1985, 1986.

He was the toughest competitor, to our Swedish rider HÃ¥kan Carlqvist (500cc champ in '83.)

Sadly he had an accident during the 1988 Dakar, and got permanently paralyzed.
Before that he had started a four-wheel career, driving a Ford Sierra RS.

Does anybody know what André is doing today?

I think he's still permanently paralyzed. Hard life...
