Hi everyone...I'm planning to start a new competition this year, in the same vain as the (defunct) 'bet your nuts' contest. The rules for the game will be as follows:
All players start the season with 100 points.
One week before the race, odds for each driver to win the race will be posted.
Players must stake a minimum of 50 points (and a maximum of their total score so far...) on a combination of drivers for the win, for the podium (1/5 odds) or for scoring points (1/10 odds). NB when the odds are released for the Australian GP, the 'each way' fractions may be subject to change. Whatever seems sensible really... :) I'll make sure to let everyone know.
After each race, the total winning amounts will be added to the score.
For each race, an extra 100 points will be added to a player's total. For those who do not enter for a round, only 50 points will be added (the minimum bet of 50 will be deducted whatever).
At the end of the season, the player with the highest total score is the winner.

Example:
Start with 100 points, put 20pts on Alonso to win, 30pts on Button to podium and 20pts on Sutil to finish in the points...30pts not risked.

Alonso 2.50 (win) 1.30 (podium) 1.15 (points) (alternatively...1.5/1, 0.3/1, 0.15/1)
Button 5.50 (win) 1.90 (podium) 1.45 (points) (4.5/1, 0.9/1, 0.45/1)
Sutil 51.00 (win) 11.00 (podium) 6.00 (points) (50/1, 10/1, 5/1)

So if Alonso wins, get 50pts back.
If Button gets top 3, get 57pts back.
If Sutil scores points, get 120pts back.
If all 3, that makes a total win of 227pts, added to the 30 not risked=257pts.

For the next race, add 100pts...357pts total, of which between 50 and 357 must be risked.

I hope this makes sense...

One final thing...each player can place 'blind bets' for two races, where their choice of betting is not revealed until after the race. This is done by PMing their choices to me. I will then post the choices after the entry deadline has passed.

OK, I think that's all...let me know the level of interest for this and I'll see if it's going to be worthwhile!

Count me in.

I won't be running Fantasy Manager again this year. Perhaps it will return in 2008. I will be helping Gerry out with GTG again though.

As long as you host the game well yourself, you'll find a fine player base, myself included, for it.
