Shot was taken in the early 60's - tram control tower, cars in pits etc. The car being No 1 makes me think it could be the Youl car - MRD maybe from what you are saying Geoff if he bought that to Tassy.

Dave Powell Snr stopped racing in 1967 - I can remember him racing his yellow Cooper S at a Bask meeting in 1967 and was sure he fronted a Brabham in a handicap race at another 1967 meeting but didn't

do a lap before retiring it.

That explains why the wheels looked wrong...

That really had me tossed originally.

Ray I posted some pic's of this car and it's history to you, did you get them?  Posting pictures on this forum is beyond my ability as you know.

Well I reckon I've solved the Baskerville mystery car puzzle! Mick Stott, secretary of the HRCCT in Hobart sent me some programs from 1963 and at the 7/4/1963 meeting, Gavin Youl, MRD is listed as holding the record for the 1101-1500 class at 1.10.4.

As a matter of interest, John Youl in the Cooper Climax was listed as Outright record holder at 1.06.6. So, thanks again for your help Geoff - I think we can put that one to bed.

I should have known better by looking at the picture the MRD had the aluminium body shell as you can see in the picture, whereas the second car brought out was slightly different wishbones and plastic body.  I was with John Youl at that meeting in'63

Other way round John.

John is the senior and Roy the gifted singer.
