That '78 Sandown meeting was a demolition derby as I recall. Didn't KB also have a big one into the base of the Dunlop bridge in his Brabham 5000?

He raced the M10B in 1971...

Then there was a break until he turned out in the various Porsches in Production Sports before going into F5000 again. It was 1978 when he crashed the Lola at Sandown and stopped racing.

So the red turbo Porsche would be the car you can't recall... or the silver JAG Porsche?

As I remember he still had the subject car in his workshop well into his second F5000 career.

The red 934 appeared with silver flashes and JAG signage did it not?  It's currently sporting Federation markings a la its time with Allan Moffat at the helm.

During which period of time did Alan have the 917/3?  I recall Michael Stahl writing a piece on that car in the mid-80's... I believe it's in Penske colours these days, and may even have been the car which Our Jum Richards demonstrated at Phillip Island a year or two back

He had that 917 there for some years, though I'm not sure that he owned it some or all of that time...

I would guess that it was 1980 when I saw it in his workshop.

The 934 was silver for its first outings, then was painted red.

KB did, but it was in 1979. Alan Hamilton's crash was at the same point in '78.

The 917 was in his workshop when my Tiga arrived in 1982. I can remember him doing a "demo" in it at one of the early Adelaide GPs alongside the Elfin MS7. As I recall, the officials were a tad concerned about their pace...

It was also painted green for a time...

It didn't do much for it.

Ray , I gather this is the paint scheme you're referring to. Only question is what happened to the rear body work. By the time this picture was taken in April '71 the back of it was rather different . You wouldn't call it an improvement either.

Two different shades of grey.....a year apart....It's that "porsche" light blue with red flashes in 1972.

There's another 906 over here - the one Greg Cusack (from memory) pounded the daylights out of at Eastern Creek a few years back.

Wasn't Alan Hamilton's 917 a /10?

According to this story it was a 917/30.        http://www.speedcafe...amilton-part-1/

Re the 934, I'm pretty sure it was red from the beginning,  not to be confused with the earlier silver car which from memory first appeared at a motor show overseas with a turbo, but was naturally aspirated by the time Alan ran it out here.

Thanks for the link Librules.

Has anyone watched the 3 videos of the '78 Sandown GP? What a demolition derby! Commentator Maxie Stahl hardly gets excited...

Was Max there? I don't recall that...

I know I was, there was plenty of crashing going on for sure. The only AGP with no two competitors on the same lap!

Who out there remembers Burnie Breen Bug Eye Sprite driver in NSW, I believe that Burnie was the first to roll a Spite on the track in NSW.

After the rebuild the now Black Sprite was the first sports car that I remember with a full width roll over hoop.

Burnie also co-drove in one of the early Bathurst 500 races, his home town was Nowra NSW from where he would drive to the Circuit, alter steering geometery, race, alter steering geometary then drive home.

Just wondering if he is still around.

Is that the one that rolled at the Dogleg at Oran Park?

I recall seeing that happen the first meeting on the 'extended' circuit in 1963.

I am led to believe that Hamiltons Green 906 was another chassis with the same chassis number as the Spyder?

Seems he had two chassis and body work.

When the Spyder race at Surfers in late '67 it appears to have coloured sill panels and front panel, does anyone know what colour it was.

I can only find colour pics as it appeared at Longford, all white and white with the stripes.

This photo, I am told by some learned enthusiasts, is the Scorpion Vincent after the accident at Warwick Farm with Peter Hill .. another photo or two of this to come ... Peter had serious damage done to his nose when his face hit the windscreen.

[img=http://img838.images...33/mossamon.jpg

Peter is quoted as saying he had a few bruises and two black eyes...

These shots are from a 1961 Women's Weekly article on Peter Hill (no, seriously!)

Now you cannot do that with all the modern kit. Belts, seats, HANS sort of make it very difficult. Probably for the best.

True Lee! I remember that in the Eastern Loop at Lakeside my head would be almost horizontal... then it would take a few milliseconds to work out where I was on the exit!

Eventually fixed that by fitting a forward roll bar brace...

Dick I believe the driver to be G. Glenn meeting was the 2 March 1969 in the Nota Dinn, his fastest time was 31.46 sec.

Not Gordon Glynn?

I'm sure that's a name I remember from somewhere, F3 into the late seventies...

What I am suggesting, Daniel, is that the name is spelled incorrectly on your source document...

It's too much of a coincidence, surely, that there be both a 'G Glenn' and a 'Gordon Glynn' competing in that time frame?

The name you seek is Gordon Glynn

I last saw him when Frank Cuttell and I went and bought the Nota Din off him early 1973 so that Frank could spill that car off the entry to The Cutting and down the slope Easter Bathurst 1973 never to race it again.

The Orion stood alongside the Nota Din, a great contrast. I seem to recall it was painted that pattern, but the black was dark green

Above was taken from another thread, Ray as you suggest Gordon Glynn, it appears that result spelling is wrong but is now sorted out, all good.
