I wonder who was "Peter Rand", apparently a Frenchman who raced and then entered interesting sportscars in the late 1960s and early 1970s, at national and even international level :

- Alpine M64 in 1968-1969 (ex-NART entry at Le Mans 1967 I believe)
- Chevron B8 in 1972
- Chevron B19 (or B21 ?) in 1972-1973

Apparently the driver of the two Chevrons was not "Peter Rand" himself but a man called Emile Elias who, according to the reports published by Sport Auto and Echappement, was doing a pretty good job with those cars. Or maybe "Peter Rand" and Emile Elias were two names for a same man ?

Strange pseudonym anyway for a Frenchman.

What do you know about him and the origins of his Chevrons ? I think that the B19 (or B21) had a yellow livery, with Peter Rand Racing Team written on it.

Here is a link for a pic of the Alpine at the 1000 km of the Nürburgring :

Thanks a lot for this great picture Gérard.

It seems, however, that we don't agree about the chassis number of this Alpine. I thought it was 1710, in other words the NART entry for Thérier-Chevalier at Le Mans in 1967, and the non starter at Le Mans in 1966, driven by Piot. But this asumption is based on photographic comparison only (lights on the roof for instance). What is your source when you assume that the Peter Rand car was 1709 ?

And do you know the actual name of that Peter Rand ?
