Nah it disappeared a long time ago, soon after Lauda's shunt at the Ring.

i like some aspects of magney cours, the cars look mighty through the fast chicanes

they just need to test less, and race more, thats it. maybe shorten the race distance abit

If it is in fact an obsession, it's a good one IMO>

It means F1 associated with both visually identifiable locations and circuits that are the exact opposite of a NASCAR oval.

It adds character to the medium. Provides context as well, as it connects F1 with a Big Deal of an Event - an entire city - versus a closed facility.

Much better than endless Tilke sanitized visually generic vistas, IMO.

This is the area that the article mentions, if I'm not mistaking.

Roland Du Luart, president of the local council, denies rumours that Le Mans would replace Magny-Cours on the calender when the contract expires with this circuit: ''The costs for Formula 1 are too high. Some years ago Magny-Cours already had to pay € 10 million. Today, if my information is correct, this figure has risen to around € 18 million so don't even talk about Formula 1 coming to Le Mans.''

I raced with GP3 on that track, by virtue of a game-editor. Good track, the only problem was setting the springs right for the bumpy Madeleine-corner. Cobblestones you see....

I have some ingame shots but I don't know how to post them... they're OT anyways...

Rumours say that Le Mans would be interested to organise the French GP. They would have actually had a number of talks with Ecclestone already. But Ingrid Moreau, spokesperson of the circuit, denies: ''As far as we know 2008 isn't the last time the French GP is held at the Magny-Cours circuit. We're not in negotiations over getting an F1 race here, I don't think there'll be one here soon either.''

A spokesperson from Magny-Cours: ''We cannot confirm reports that Magny-Cours would dissapear from the Formula 1 calender. What I can say is that we don't rate Ecclestone highly.''

I don't know why it wasn't moved to Le Mans years ago anyway. The Bugatti circuit is terrible, but that would make it fit into the current calendar quite snugly. Anyway, the name in itself would be a bit of a coup for F1.

There again, the same could once have been said for Indianapolis...

Is it the glamour that makes Paris attractive? Why another city race? Paris large thoroughfares are all lined with old trees. No one in his or her right mind would cut them down just for a weekend.

And leave the Palais de Chaillot's gardens alone ;)

A F1 race at the La Sarthe circuit would be awesome. But I think F1 is allergic to anything longer than 6 or 7 kms nowadays, so they'd end up at the Bugatti circuit which on the other hand is almost too short.

If they race at Le Mans, let it be the full circuit. It would be like a cool throwback to the yesteryears of F1 in a way, but it has to be the full circuit.

Otherwise, there's just no point.

Paris would be great. F1 needs circuits with visual character.

How about a night race in Paris? That would be wonderful!

Magny Cours is as good a race track as any other I mean we've still got Monza so why ditch Magny Cours ? I don't give a damn if the F1 fraternity are stuck out in the middle of rural france its the race track that matters and its not actually that bad. Some people are living in fantasyland I think hey let's put skis on the cars and go to Greenland for a race !
