Anyone know what happend to Tim Lee Davey?
I'm sure there are a few stories to be told here about one of the last true Sportscar privateers, such as turning up at scrutineering with a "dummy" engine in a Porsche 962!
The Brands Hatch Interserie race 1991ish having "relieved" a driver of some cash which was used to pay for the rented engine from Joest, only to find he had no ECU for the car! The Porsche 962c was then towed by Tim in a very rusty 1970s Honda Civic out the pits and parked behind the Brabham centre where the owner decided to sell his names on small spaces on the car. (Don't think he had many takers as the car was very scruffy.) There are some more which i'll post soon...............

i have heard many good stories regarding TLD but that was a good one, minst you a very brave man to releive val of £20k!

i knew TLD from his f3 days(early 80 s) and he was a decent peddler with a reasonable and well prepared car if my memory searves me correct by an ex tyrell man, and found him to be cheerful, helpful and good to be around and a man with great aspirations so like you i am curious to what happened to him.

Rodney Dodson.

Wasn't he one of the people featured on Esther Rantzens "The Big Time" programme ( IIRC he was a solicitor by profession) ?

He did appear on the "Big Time" the program which made Sheena Eastern famous. He was indeed a barrister which i'm sure helped him out a few time.........
Does anyone else remember the Tiga pictured on the thread losing it's rear bodywork going in to Clearways at the 1985 European GP Thundersports race at Brands and ending up suspended on top of the debris fencing (think the BBC showed this race ).

Isn't Tim Lee Davey connected with Lee Davey Caravans in Maidstone (close to Brands Hatch, his natural home).

Yes, his family run a caravan business in Lenham, about 5 miles east of Maidstone on the A20.

I was looking for informartion on TLD and thought I'd reserect this thread.

It seems that Lee Davey caravans was sold by the Lee-Davey family in 1986, so it seems unlikely Tim is involved with the business ?

Separately, a Google search turned up a reprint of this interesting article from Motorsport Magazine in 1991. While he talks enthusiastically about plans for the 1991 season, the fact Team Davey never reappeared suggests his court action against his 1990 pay drivers was unsuccessful ?

Here's the race referred to above.  The aftermath of TLD's accident is around 4.25.

I believe he had something to do with running or organising the Shellsport Sunbeam Talbots - for 'celebrity' drivers. This would have been late70s/early 80s.

I remember one race for invited, race winning drivers where he was entered as a driver also. About 10 minutes practice were allotted for drivers (all bar him had never driven one of course).

The practice was suddenly chequer flagged & the grid was formed in the order the cars crossed the line.

TLD was on the front row...

If I recall though, he only finished second.  Aaaah...
