Monte Carlo Rally
there will be (shortly) a new book: 100 years of Monte Carlo Rally...
Published by the ACO...
In Europe 265 Euros...2 volumes 750 pages in total..
I think it fair to share a word of warning about this book. I thought I would take the plunge and enquired whether a signed copy of the book could be purchased. Several emails from the publisher (Luxury Publications Monaco - I should have known better from the name) confirmed that a signed copy was possible and was being arranged once I had paid for the book. You can imagine my displeasure when the book arrived unsigned and what's more damaged. The book had been packed well and so the post had not been responsible for the damage. Now the interesting bit. I have sent three emails about the problem and all of a sudden the publisher is not replying to my emails. I am attempting to obtain a refund via my credit card company, but please be warned.
As far as the contents of the book are concerned I am afraid it is not worth 265 Euros. The text strikes me as immature and the photo collection is nothing to write home about. What is more, only the winners are listed. There are no entry lists - a cardinal sin in my opinion for a book supposedly written in collaboration with the ACM. This strikes me as an attempt to cash in on the 100th anniversary for those people who are not looking for detailed research. The Maurice Louche twin volume book is vastly superior plus Maurice is a gentleman to deal with.
