The ex-Maranello Concessionaries/Mike Parkes Ferrari Dino 206 S (006) ended up in a brook at Ring Knutstorp in Sweden in April '67

The owner Gustav Dieden got a his nickname after that incident, "Gustav i Bäcken" ("Gustav in the Brook") and the brook is to this day called "Dieden River" (sic.)
Dieden had originally ordered a P3 from the Swedish Ferrari agent and paid a deposit, but that deal fell through and he was offered the Dino as an alternative.
Desperate to get a car for the coming season he accepted, Ring Knutstorp was the first event with the car... The damages were relatively light though.
The reason for the accident was that the sliding throttles stuck wide open down the straight before, both the housing and slide were made of aluminium..
The Ferrari agent persuaded Dieden to let him return the car to Maranello for repairs. The invoice presented on the car's return was roughly £25 000 in today's money!
Dieden eventually accepted to pay but sued the agent for what he saw as an extortionate markup. The car continued to give trouble as the engine had several design faults.
Crankshaft created very damaging vibrations at certain revs and there were quality problems with the aluminium in the block which cracked due to the vibrations.
The car was sold to a private team and the engine finally blew up properly, due to the very high cost for a replacement/rebuild they decided to fit a Volvo engine to it!
A 4-cylinder pushrod B20 from a Volvo 140 was chosen... They are quite tuneable though and 180-190bhp was possible, but it goes against the grain. Even in 1970..
