This was my boy Oliver at Brands Hatch circa 1985.
Olly was born in 1978 and he looks about 7 or 8.
I know it is a Lola Aston but who owned it at the time of the photo and what was it's history ?

Team Surtees had two Mk3 Lola-Aston Martins in 1967. “Yours” will be the car Peter Millward ran throughout the 1980s, with Jonathan Palmer and Mike Wilds also doing driving duty.
After running without success in the Nürburging 1000km and Le Mans 24hr races in 1967 its engine had been replaced by a Chevrolet, in which form it was campaigned by Ecurie Bonnier in 1968 and Jim Beach in 1969. Nick Cussons re-fitted an Aston engine in the early ’70s and raced it in this spec, as did Roger StJohn Hart and later Dennis and Nigel Hulme, before Millward acquired it.
It was bought at auction by Ean Pugh in 1993

Michael, you'll note it took all of 33 minutes to get an answer to a 22yo question. Kudos to David!

I'm reminded of the old adage: "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes a little longer."

Chapman Spooner Engineering rings a bell for the Lola Aston around that time, perhaps

Hi,

I know this is an old thread, but thought I would reply with more details. They may be interesting to someone one day! My dad was Peter Millward (died Nov 2010), I have a picture (below) of my sister and I with the lola. I am the younger in the photo and was born in 86.

My mum says my sister was 1 when he bought the lola which would have been 84, but dont know when he sold it on. Andy Chapman, of Chapman Spooner Engineering was a close friend of my dads after they worked together on the Lola for Le Mans (I think!).

Welome to TNF. Family archives are always most well received here. There are many of us who recall your father.

Richard Williams looked after the car in the late 70s early 80s.

I seem to recall Jonathon Palmer put the car on pole for an Atlantic Computers GT race against McLaren M8s, the BRM P154 and MARCH 707. It was in the wet but it was still mighty impressive !
