In 1987 the no 23 Fiesta was driven by Norman Grimshaw. No 22 was driven by Angela Grimshaw. Both entered by Goodliff Racing. (from a mid-season Brands Hatch programme).

I have no idea whether that picture tallies with this info, though.

Edited to add - the Autosport review os the '87 season has a picture of the 23 car at a driver-change - the door is open and the body on the side is clearly visible. Front plate says "Norman". At an Oulton 2-driver round Grimshaw shared with Barrie Williams.

Possibly Barrie Williams.

You are definitely slipping Alan.
Surely this was an ideal opportunity to post your similarly arty paint job on the trusty PRS

There was a reply to my infamous paint job on here somewhere which I'm sure showed good old Whizzo in said Fiesta at the Mallory hairpin, hence my earlier post.

The trusty old PRS may still be rebuilt and I'm really tempted to do the cutaway idea again but I don't think somehow I'll go the stockings and suspenders route

I have a photo of Whizzo in a Fiesta with a driver figure painted on the door, but I'm sure it was wearing race overalls, not the lingerie option. He may, of course, have driven other cars during the season.

Great stuff Alan. What a pity H & S dictates that some of this and other similar positions are now a camera free zone :(

That "marshal" in shot one should have opened the gate to let the wheel through.

Sorry, Tim. For some inexplicable reason I don't seem to have. Can't imagine why as it was a super-looking car and, indeed, featured on the cover of the programme, did it not? Sadly, I wasn't at the earlier Mallory meeting where I think you won. Phil Rainford may possibly be able to help as I'm sure he was there, too.

I bet we thought 50p for a Programme was expensive in 1986.

It was £5 at last weekends Oulton Park British GT/F3 shindig :well:

Based on the retail price index, 50p in 1986 is still only worth £1.14, or £1.56 based on average earnings.

The green Reynard tripping over Andrew Raybould is, i'm pretty sure, being piloted by Tim Sugden in this shot. The car was originally driven by Richard Dean for Jim Lee Racing.

Recently mentioned on the Mallory Park testing thread, Bolton's Rob Moores, MD of Halbro Sportswear, only the second owner of the ex-Daly Chevron B38 snapped in 1990 at Oulton Park. He still has the car and has entered it for next month's Monaco Historics F3 race.

Quite probably, David. However, 'Personal Photos from the Track' tends to encompass major international categories so I have posted them here before, as I reckon they are quite a few rungs below F1/F2/World Sports Cars etc. in the motor racing pecking order.

Quite a few times in the early part of the 1987 season- Andy Rouse wasn't running a full season because of his WTCC commitments, so the only regular full-specification Cosworths were Graham Goode and Pete Hall. Both Tim Harvey (3 wins) and Dennis Leech (1 win) beat the Sierras in the early rounds of the championship.

Once the Sierras were uprated to RS500 specification mid-year (plus the arrival of Frank Sytner's BMW M3) it was pretty much game over for the older cars, other than an unexpected win for Mike Newman's BMW 635CSi in the late-season Oulton 1 hour/2-driver race, achieved through a combination of the Sierras having problems and an inspired tyre choice by Mike, who IIRC started on slicks for a race on a wet, but drying track.

The eventual win tally: Rouse (Sierra) 3; Harvey (Rover) 3; and Dennis Leech (Rover), Win Percy (guesting in the Rouse Sierra at the British GP meeting), Mike O'Brien (Holden), Frank Sytner (M3), Mike Newman (635CSi) and Pete Hall (Sierra) all 1 each.

They're great pics by Alan- brings back memories of proper rwd touring cars (well apart from the Escort Turbo!) and oversteer...
