Some people talk about the 'sharks' involved in F1 others talk about the 'big wigs'

Some time ago now (F3000 days, IIRC) one of his spannermen decided it would be a jape to direct an airline at the rug in question, which took-off in spectacular fashion as a result.
Shortly followed by the mechanic, who was fired on the spot...

I'm no lawyer, but surely that could've been taken to a tribunal? The case notes would have been hilarious.

Also it was noticable at Goodwood, the when said Irishman drove one of his old cars, he always went into a motorhome to remove his crash helmet. I wonder why?!
I often chatted with him in various airports around the world, and even though I knew, I never really noticed. Nice bloke!

Eddie Jordan
Bernie Ecclestone
Peter Broeker
Interestingly, all three were racing drivers first, and then all three became team bosses. Might be an idea to keep an eye on young M. Schumacher's hairline in future years...

Ahh, so that's the reason Michael Schumacher was "kicked" after only one race...Originally posted by f1steveuk
There was an extremely strong rumour that the Irish "syrup" wearer sacked a driver who was caught wearing said "syrup" and doing a very bad impression, and this German (oh, what a give away) was informed by fax.

Would have been better for the Irishman, but it was a different German, the one the named German nicked the girlfriend of and married!

If I wore one of those thing I would be totally paranoid. I would be thinking all the time "why are people looking at me that way?"

Well, a picture of Mr B C Ecclestone c. 1958, in one of the biographies done on him, shows him as having rapidly receded hair from the front. Therefore, there's no way that hair he has had for some while is real. Of course, I will never have the chance to prove this one way or the other.....
I don't know if David Holland can post images, but he has shown me a picture of Broeker with a god-awful wig. It makes Donald Trump's thatch look classy....

I think Bernie's is real - someone as fastidious as him would never pay for a wig like that!

So like Donald Trump but from the back forwards?
I wonder if my late Dad would have been more successful with a syrup instead of a comb-over and big sidies!!

I think his competitors would have made it very embarassing for him. Can you imagine Lanfranchi seeing Gerry in a wig

If that's true, given the way he was receding in the 50s and 60s, and there's plenty of photographic evidence for this, he must be combing it from somewhere just above his collar.

IF Bernie is wearing a rug it is a much different style to anything I've ever seen.

Fair point. Can anyone recall him wearing a hat over a certain period of time? Or would a hat bugger up the new growth process?

With Bernie? It wouldn't dare, no hat is that brave.

To try and make up for that I just found this:-
I think it shows that whatever Bern has now he's had for quite a while.
