The Darracq 200hp and hopefully the Beast of Turin fiat s76 300hp are to make a centenial appearance at Saltburn by the sea, on june 26th 2009. 100 yrs since the Darracq broke the lsr. Any one with interesting historical information please make contact via this forum. I am looking for any pictures as well of both vehicles that can be used for publicity. In respect of the Darracq any close ups would be a great help as its undergoing another restoration for the event. Saltburn was the north east,s premiere sand time trial and racing venue of the early 1900,s. In 1906 the York auto club held a racing event that drew a field over 100 cars, and 60,000 spectators. Many motorcycle speed records were attained here. Saltburn is a very small victorian seaside town. Any one who has any interest in these vehicles and events please make contact with the iceman.

Presumably Saltburn 2009 came and went sans both exciting monsters... But I hear from legendary Velocette restorer Ivan Rhodes the 200HP Darrcq performed impressively recently at Curburough Sprint, perhaps its first serious outing...

Does any TNF'r have the details, pics, video etc etc?? Surely we deserve to share in this spectacle?

Wouldn't it be good to have THREE "monsters" - they come in all sizes - at Saltburn: this one is in very good hands in France ...

Yes please! 101 years is close enough. Does anyone know how the FIAT S76 is progressing?

If you want to see the Darracq in action come to La Vie en Bleu at Prescott this weekend. Plus lots of Bugattis including type 59, Veyron and EB110, Delage, Amilcar etc. Prescott dressed up as Paris, lots of fun.

Mark Walker beat the Edwardian record on his first non practice run with a 41.71.( The previous record was held by the Family GP Panhard at 44.15s)
To put this in context FTD was 37.25

In case some TNFrs are unaware, there is an important article about the 200HP Darracq in the March 2011 issue of The Automobile which hit the shops last week, an essential read. The first part is illustrated with period photos and the second part will focus on the restoration which is an object lesson in authenticity if ever there was one. The resultant vehicle surely speaks for itself!

A couple of members of the Pegasus MC and I had the good fortune to see this car after a trials event on Duncan's farm and the body work seems to be coming along certainly there has been progress since the "]last pictures of it posted on TNF.
