David,
I don't know if it is the angle but those wheels and tyres look wrong somehow. Or possibly it is all the other folks who have the wrong ones? ;)

Another very pleasing set, Alan. I like the last one best. I was talking to a youngster about the Station and the Gas-works a while back; he thought I'd lost it. :well:

I think the tyres are over inflated hence they look tall.

Thank you, Pete, for your kind words.

Regarding the Lotus 25 pics, I think we have become used to seeing Lotus 25/33s running with the wrong-sized wheels/tyres in historic racing in recent times.

Is there any reason for that? Availability or do they perform better on non-standard?

Doesn't that apply to about 80 per cent of the shots on certain TNF threads?

Alan, I am fascinated by that. I understoopd that the specifications were clear for each iteration of the 25 with 15" wheels, and 33, the critical change being on the 33 when the 13" tyres became available, along with geometry changes and slightly thicker gauge sheet in the panelling.

I may be imagining it, Roger, but I feel that the tyres on this 33, for example, were not to 'period' dimensions

Slight exaggeration there Simon, (but only slight! ) However, you will be pleased to know I have vowed to follow Roger Clark's lead in 2010 and avoid the lens at all costs!
I did however find it somewhat ironic that the major (& quite justified) critic of my over-exposure last year, Alan Cox, was the first to unwittingly post a pic of me this year from the Autosport International Show............. :rotfl:

It certainly does look a bit odd, Alan. Perhaps not a credit to the scrutineers' skills. I always assumed that these specifications were declared and checked against period specs. ISTR there is a thread about available tyres for this F1 period in historics. That is why I said about each iteration of the 25 or 33, as the changes were specific and recorded, qv the Bamsey 25 book and John Tipler's 25/33 volume, both of which I recommend FWIW, in addition to the other well known Lotus single seater works.

As an aside, a little O/T, in Pritchard's Lotus all the cars, there is a Tom March shot of JC in a 33 with 2 litre Climax at Warwick Farm in '67 running what look very much like 15" rims with broad tyres, but that spec would not be eligible AFAIK in pre '65 racing.

That is why I said way back: "Or possibly it is all the other folks who have the wrong ones? " :stoned:

I think we may have become accustomed to seeing to seeing these little cars on 13 inch wheels with chubby tyres over the last 20 years. However, I have compared the tyres in the photo with period shots and they still look a little too "square-shouldered" to me. Maybe they are Taxi tyres. ;)
