2013 British Columbia Historic Motor Races, Mission, British Columbia, Canada, May 25-26

Posted Image

John Randall owns this steering wheel from Brabham BT5 SC/2/63. He raced the car in the late 60s, early 70s. I believe the license plate is from when Ed Zeller had the car in Switzerland. Brian Wilson has the car in Australia.

Posted Image

03, Alan McColl, Tiga, won the Westwood Trophy for the FF feature. 89 is Allan Cruickshank, Legrand Mk 21. Weather started good, but on Sunday, it rained all day.

Posted Image

Marty Loft, left, with Craig Archer, Swift DB1, who finished second in the FF race. Loft won the 1976 Players Atlantic race at Westwood in a Shierson March 76B. Archer is holding the "Mission Moose" he was awarded.

Posted Image

Keith "James Hunt" Robinson, Van Diemen RF79, was awarded the Pete Lovely Memorial Award in the Exhibition race. With him is Chuck Blaylock, who raced against Pete Lovely in similar Lotus 18s in 1961 and 1962.

And tucked away in a corner of the maintenance garage, unseen by most people, is a Martini 917 replica, which was used during a track day a couple of days earlier.

Gerry Marshall hangs the tail of the Lister Jaguar while keeping Neil Corner in the Wheatcroft BRM P25 at bay. Donington 25-6-1978. A reminder, also, of how close you were allowed to stand in the early days after Donington reopened with not a vestige of catch fencing in sight. How did we survive?

Brilliant.

So odd now to see the mixed sports/single-seaters of that era.

I seem to remember that Donington only got the full Debris Fencing look for the single Eff Wunn Race there..

Has anything actually hit that fencing ever!

I do remember Keith Odor actually clearing the fence once but I can't think on any occasion it actually being hit.

'Bit like Stalag Silverstone really ;)

A spectator died after Alan McNish's F3000 cleared the barriers along the straight before the chicane.

I saw that Alan. I was Marshalling at Mcleans and after seeing that unfold I had no problem dealing with a barrel rolling Montermini after loosing his rear wheel. Funny thing Andrenelin ;)

BUT....there was no fencing there on the inside of the track, was there?

Quite possibly still Australias fastest Sports Car. It makes me feel old as it is nearly 30 years old. I saw it being built and have owned a few cast off parts from it.

Great photo Alan, thanks. I don't suppose you know qualifying or race positions?
That's one race I've not got - I know Dad was there that weekend for the Touring cars, qualified third, but retired with with a broken gearbox.
Thanks in advance.

It was at the time, but it was subsequently corrected. Martin had been given a Pantone number, the actual colour of which turned out to be incorrect.

One would have thought that within 1 second of seeing the colour, anyone with any knowledge of things 1960-ish would have spotted a slight error.

I haven't posted any pictures on this thread for quite a time - mainly because next to the Alan Coxes of this world (and the Pat Coxes too) mine are at best, weak, but here are a few from last year's Revival.

If you need captions, you are in the wrong Forum!

Except for car #23 which a few may not recognise as the very rare lesser spotted Walker Climax.

And to end, a couple of jalopies.

Talking of Morgans... I was surprised to see several of them in the main race. Didn't look much like Morgans to me.

I would have postulated a "foreboding" but it seems that a "portent" is more popular.

BTW: are there anywhere entrylists for the different Master Series classes online? I can't find anything.
