Is F1 still going to be in the dark ages this season or has it joined the 21st Century at last and maybe practice is available on the internet somewhere (tv footage, not timing data)?

I found this website http://www.live-racing.tv/ but don't know how reliable it may be in terms of:

* Are all the sessions listed actually shown (i.e. it shows the practice1,2,3/qually/race times, but are they all actually broadcast through this website/server?)

* Is the streaming speed any good?

* How long will this last before Bernie shuts it down?

* Should I really give £9.95 to some random website that's appeared out of nowhere?

I'd seriously like to watch at least the sessions that will be on during the evening in Europe (I'm at work when the European practice sessions will be on) so I'm not convinced it's worth a tenner to watch sessions from maybe 5 races (Aus, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Japan).

Any other sites showing stuff, for free?

I still can't understand why the official site doesn't show it, it would be less than a drop in the ocean cost-wise for FOM to put that up on their website.

How tight are FOM by the way? You can watch actual Indycar races live on indycar.com, for F1 you can't even watch a practice session for free.....

I'm sure the sponsors wouldn't mind.

German TV channel DSF generally show the practice sessions, often delayed to the second half of the afternoon. website www.dsf.de.

I pick it up in the UK on an old analogue satellite system that I originally got for Eurosport. It's free to air, you just need the hardware.

I also use it to tune into another German channel, RTL, for the race, I switch to it during ITV ads - sometimes they overlap but sometimes not.

FYI: With TVUPlayer you can watch an internet stream of SpeedTV's F1 coverage via the "Wheels" channel.

I just wanted to give out a little heads up on this. There are sites available for free that show you live streams of F1. I am not going to post them out here..maybe Pm me for details.

I see sites like this all the time and now also on Ebay that basically charge you money for a service like this and then just send you to the free site.

On these free sites the links come up only a few hrs before the stream begins and you need software like TVU player, or SopCast. Maybe this site is legit and he has his own streamers that are dedicated to his service but one will only know after you sign up. He does have a money back gurantee so...

Just my 2 cents

It seems that RTL will do the same for Germans (you need a German IP address).

The only downside of this are commercials every 10 minutes that last approximately 5 minutes. And when I watched it, it was always delayed for about 2 minutes. But hey, it's for free, I shouldn't complain

I'm curious how ITV's internet broadcast will work out. I hope they have enough servers and enough broadband to support it, otherwise the entire thing will be very slow. Well... only two more hours to the first practice session and we'll see how it works out. Looks like I'm staying up late this evening :)

Edit: now I see it's for UK viewers only... too bad :

I've never had occasion to use TVUPlayer to watch anything other than Friday practice sessions for the Canadian, US, and Brazilian races, since those are the only ones that take place during my work hours.

However, according to TVU's programming guide they do, in fact, stream the GP's as well.

Just tried to get the Free Practice from the ITV site, guess what, yes you can't get access unless you are in the UK. I can't understand why the Official site can't broadcast this, I mean it is not as if there is a whole industry that already broadcast the Practice Sessions!!!

Back to watching Live Timing I guess. :(

It is possible to watch ITV's crappy stream from outside UK ...

you just need Firefox + FoxyProxy add-on + UK proxy adress

I will not spoil you the fun of finding how to make all this work ...

Would be appreciated if you kept the link advertising to the itv feed to a minimum so it isnt too congested and slow, thanks.

But that wouldn't be fair for others, would it? Perhaps it should be only included in the live thread?

let others do what most people did in the first place, experiment and find it, becuase at the end of the day, if everyone is using it, no one will be able to view it because the server will just overload like it did in FP1 and close down for 10 - 15 minutes

its somewhat unfair to people who dont know, but at the same time, telling everyone makes it unfair to the people who took the time to figure it out, for it to just overload and play 5 seconds of footage then buffer for 5 minutes.

there's 99 servers to choose from tho!!:D:D:D
I took the time to figure it out on my own (I'm not UK based, so I needed some sense of skill to do it)
but I don't mind sharing.

I realize one day they will smarten up, but this is the Internet age..spread it around and enjoy it while it lasts. If anything it'll be a wakeup call to FOM to see how many people want a live internet feed around the world

How was the quality of ITV compared to TVUplayer?

Here is the link for my old favorite p2ptv sport schedule page, it seems TVUplayer is out of formula channels, only sopcast working (and that is slow time to time).

Looks like it will be shown on Sopcast. http://myp2p.eu/broa...693&part=sports for details

The stream isn't online right now, but hopefully that's just because it hasn't started yet?

There's also channel 44000 on SopCast (requires VLC). Not in English, though, and very choppy. :/

Yeah the Sopcast stream is having problems today, but it seems to have smoothed out for the time being. It seems like at least equal quality as the ITV stream, when it's not choppy. It's already been mentioned multiple times though, so I guess snx doesn't want to put in the little effort it takes to install 2 programs, his loss

I am having good luck with the motorsports 44k, not too choppy, but I don't know what to compare to.

It got choppy again literally seconds after they had all crossed the line, but it stayed smooth during the rest of the session :)

Sounded like Romanian or something, but I'm probably way off :p

I'd have preferred English commentary though. What happened to the Wheels channel on TVU?
