Jean Herteaux was killed in a sports car race at St. Etienne on May 14th 1953. My first records of St.Etienne races are from 1955 (Forez-St.Etienne 4 HRS). Does anyone have more on the 1953 (and possible 1954) race (s) ?

I am totally unfamiliar with this race or series of races, but it sounds VERY interesting...

Thanks,
Stu

Hang on a mo - wasn't he killed in a hill-climb?????? C-Type??? After crossing the finish line???? Or am I confusing him with somebody else?? I probably am...

.....or more probably not Doug.

My only records of the Forez race at St Etienne (or was it the St Etienne race at Forez?) are for 1955 and 1957

That means St. Etienne race in 1953 was a hillclimb, not a sports car race.

Thanks for info

Not exactly - there was no 'St Etienne race' that year, it would appear, for this was the Course de Cote de Planfoy - an against the clock hill-climb....thanks Pete, I was having a brainstorm but manfully resisted actually looking it up. In fact I think that - somewhere - I have the programme for that event.
