Alesi guested in car 15 in either 92 or '93.

A 164, are you sure? I fail to remember any racing 164 at all... I guess you mean a 75.

As far as I remember, Alesi drove FWD 155 2-litre the next year.

The 1992 CIVT 155s were "GTAs", actually Lancia Integrales (2-litre turbo, 4WD) with 155 body (they shared the same floorpan) suited for track racing.

Car # 6 was in at least 2 occasions official Martini-Alfa sponsored, I have it once with Tamburini and once with Cadalora (a biker).

My mistake above, the Martini Alfa was Tamburini, not Tarquini.

Cadalora drove the car in the last round at Monza. Tamburini drove this car whwn Zanardi & d'Amore drove his Jolly Club car at Imola in June, and also at Enna in September.

We had a racing 164 here, Martin Parsons drove one in the auto Italia championship a few years back, until a journalist wrote it off...
although I think he was mad enough to build another... That's mad in the nice sense, as an ex-164 owner myself, I loved the car (But not the Dealers/ Servicing)

Does anyone have photos of these cars?

Thanks for this guys. I found more data on this over the weekend, which I will add in due course, but it wasn’t quite as detailed as this. My info now lists all the top six finishers for each race, but no more than that.

I think Moreno raced the Ford Escort Cosworth in the last three or four rounds, scoring top six results in all but one of those. I’ll check more carefully when I have time.

Firstly, Roberto Moreno’s results:
He raced the Ford Escort Cosworth at Enna (retired, 5th), Varano (4th, 6th) and Monza (5th, 5th). These were the last three meetings of the season.

Secondly, the points system:
I think the drivers might have had to drop two scores. Giorgio Francia finished in the top five at every race, giving him 278 points, but I read somewhere that he was credited with 260 points. That would be consistent with dropping his solitary fifth place, and one fourth. Can anyone confirm?

Thirdly, some notes:
There has already been some data posted about substitute drivers, one-offs, etc. But here is a bit more info:
Tarquini - in F1, so missed the first round
Moreno - came in for the last three rounds after losing his F1 ride
Zanardi - his main commitment was F1 testing, and some races

Cadalora - was winning the 250cc GP motorcycle title that year

Pirro, Ravaglia and Winkelhock* - all missed rounds due to clashing touring car commitments in Germany
Soper* - was racing touring cars mostly in the UK, but also in Germany

* I assume these two only did the first Italian round

Races as per list I posted some days ago.

First race at Monza had two winner, Giovanardi and Salvarani, because it was not possible to declare a single winner, neither with photofinish. So each driver scored 17,5 points. But Peugeot was squalified after second race (Giovanardi won) and so its point in second race were canceled and points in first race divided by two. That's why he scored 8,75 points.

Ok, old thread but anyone interested in the 1992 Italian Touring Car Championship might want to read this article that Frank Huiskamp and I drafted, celebrating the debut race of the Alfa 155 GTA.

21 March 1992 - Debut race Alfa 155 GTA

Precisely 15 years ago, Alfa 155 officially began its renowned racing career!

Four Alfa's 155 GTA made their debut during the first race of the Campionato Italiano Superturismo Class S1 of 1992.
Location : L'Autodromo di Monza.

About the teams and the drivers
Martini Alfa Corse with Alessandro Nannini (car number 4) and Nicola Larini (5).
Jolly Club with Antonio Tamburini (7) and Giorgio Francia (8).

About the race
Training. Larini qualified first followed by Nannini.
Race 1. Larini in T-car (05) slipped away as the power steering broke off. Nannini also slipped away since Larini's GTA spilled oil on the track. Result : Francia 2nd, Tamburini 5th, Nannini 6th.
Race 2 (22nd March, 1992). Larini and Nannini starting from back of the grid. Result : Larini 1st, Francia 2nd, Nannini 12th, Tamburini 13th.

About the cars
Ex Larini (5) : has competed in the Campionato Italiano Velocità Montagna (abbr. C.IV.M. for hill climbing) since 1993. Its owner and driver Mr. Eugenio Molinaro has won various 1st or 2nd places since mid-2005. In 2007 Mr. Molinaro and his Alfa 155 GTA will continue to compete in the C.I.V.M.

Ex Larini (05) : owned by Dutchman Karel Sauerbier who competed in monoposti. His Alfa 155 GTA could be seen during Spettacolo Sportivo, the annual event organized by the Dutch Alfa Romeo Club SCARB.

Ex Nannini : owned by the very nice Mr. Gordon De Adamich. Gordon competed himself in Alfa’s 155 (Q4 and TS) in the C.I.V.T. in 1994, 1996 and 1997.

Ex Tamburini : has competed in the C.I.V.M. since 1993. Owner and driver Mr. Roberto Di Giuseppe won the Class E1 championship in 2005. In 2007 Mr. Di Giuseppe and his Alfa 155 GTA will continue to compete in the C.I.V.M.

Ex Francia : owned by the likewise very nice Mr. Fabio Sordi. His 155 GTA is completely restored to the 1992 specification and is as such recognized by Mr. Giorgio Pianta, ex director Alfa Corse, and Mr, Giorgio Francia. In 2007 Fabio will participate in the Schaer Tourenwagen Events organized by Mr. Kuno Schär.

Guido, would you happen to have results of previous seasons too? I have access to 1990, but the CIVT of 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1991 will be of serious interest, in my quest to map Group A racing around the world.

Sure enough, Elford. My best source for numbers would be a 1990 yearbook - heavy on pictures, decent on results (the DNF's not mentioned) and race reports.

I presume these Alfas were Group A cars - with their aerodynamic accoutrements, they do look somewhat similar to the DTM Alfas circa '94 - forgive me for my ignorance, but was their any/much cross over between Group A/Class 1 regs? Forgive me for my obvious stupidity ;)

Is the Graziano Rossi who raced the BMW M3 in Division S2 the ex Motorcycle GP racer and father of multiple World Motorcycling Champion, Valentino ???

Apparently Rossi is one of the most common Italian surnames, so it could be someone else, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same man.

To clarify; Valentino's dad is a Graziano Rossi, but is he this one?

Doctors is apparently also a common title in Italy! I thought that his father was a former bike rider but could have made the switch at some stage. A Graziano Rossi finished 10th in the Italian CIVT of 1990.

The 1992 CIVT Alfa Romeo Alfa 155 Q4 was homologated as an evolution of the Alfa 75 Turbo (!), but only by the Italian Governing body CSAI. The DTM/ITC 155s of 1993-1996 had a 2.5 V6 engine.

The original 1984 DTM (Deutsche Produktionswagen Meisterschaft) was closely based on the then FIA Group A regulations but even out the differences between different engine sizes cars above 3 litre capacity gained in weight but in some cases also granted wider tyres, while cars below 3 litre was largely unaffected. All cars were subject to stricter noise levels though. As time evolved so did the DTM away from FIA Group A. Weight limits were played around with all through 1984-1992, sometimes from race to race, while Turbo engines were limited with restrictors from at least 1987-1989 when turbos were abolished, as two of the major differences. By 1990 Opel entered their Omega 24V despite it wasn’t homologated for Group A for another year and I think that the previous Kadett 16V was a regular entry for Heinz-Friedrich Peil during the 1988 season, but only FIA homologated in the fall.
I think the FIA Class 1 regulations used for the final ITC 1996 had little left of any Group A traits, but it is for others to detail the evolution of DTM regulations after the early 1990s, as cars were becoming too uniform for my liking and so did the interest.
